Nyquis raised a US$6.3 million Seed round co-led by Gigascale Capital and South Park Commons. The round also drew participation from Allison Pickens Ventures, Sovereign’s Capital, and other investors. The company makes continuous monitoring systems that spot early electrical grid risks and unused capacity.
Use of funds
The company will develop its next-generation sensor. It will also build capacity-planning products. Nyquis plans to expand its fault-training data and deploy systems with more grid operators.
Early deployment
Nyquis first deployed with Otero County Electric Cooperative in New Mexico. During a windstorm, its system detected more than 50 high-impedance fault events caused by branches contacting power lines. The co-op’s existing equipment could not see that activity.
How the Nyquis Node works
The Nyquis Node adds a monitoring layer inside existing substations. It installs in about 15 minutes without a shutdown or rewiring. Machine learning models analyze high-resolution waveform data and flag faults drawing less than 1 amp.
The same live data can also help operators plan new load connections. It can show where lines have available headroom. This may reduce the time needed to bring new projects online.
