London-based AI infrastructure firm Nscale is preparing for a potential United States initial public offering as early as September, a move fueled by an impressive $51 billion in total contracted revenue. The company has demonstrated explosive growth, positioning itself as a formidable new player in the competitive AI compute market. This public listing represents a pivotal moment for the company, testing investor appetite for its vertically integrated business model.

Explosive Growth and Financial Fortitude

Nscale's financial trajectory has been remarkable, with quarterly revenue surging from $37 million in Q1 2026 to over $100 million in Q2. This rapid increase is attributed to multi-year infrastructure contracts recognized upon signing, contributing to its large contract book. The company's actual revenue run-rate is estimated to be between $400 million and $500 million.

Investor confidence has fueled Nscale's rapid expansion, marked by a series of substantial funding rounds since its 2024 inception. The company secured a $1.1 billion Series B in 2025, followed by a landmark $2 billion Series C in March 2026. This latest round propelled Nscale's valuation to an impressive $14.6 billion, underscoring strong market belief in its potential.

To finance its ambitious build-out, Nscale has adeptly leveraged both equity and debt markets. The company recently secured a $1.4 billion GPU-backed loan and a $790 million debt facility for its Narvik campus. Furthermore, a $900 million revolving credit facility provides significant financial flexibility for its future operational needs.

Strategic Expansion and Leadership

A key strategic move was the recent agreement to acquire Anyscale, a distributed AI software company, for approximately $1.65 billion. This acquisition adds a valuable software layer, nearly 200 employees, and a customer roster including Coinbase and Runway. The deal significantly enhances Nscale's vertically integrated offerings and market position.

In preparation for its public debut, Nscale has assembled a board with extensive industry experience, including former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg. The leadership team was also fortified with the hiring of Microsoft veteran Nidhi Chappell as President of AI Infrastructure. These high-profile appointments are crucial for navigating the public markets and instilling investor confidence.

The Vertical Integration Gambit

The company is aggressively expanding its physical infrastructure to meet the soaring demand for AI compute. Nscale is progressing towards 10GW of data centre capacity and has secured nearly 289,000 GPUs, including advanced Nvidia models. This massive hardware inventory forms the backbone of its service offerings and long-term revenue contracts.

Nscale's primary competitive advantage lies in its strategy of vertical integration, a contrast to many rivals like CoreWeave. By owning the power, data centres, GPUs, and now software, the company aims to offer a more efficient solution. The IPO will test if investors reward this capital-intensive model over asset-lighter, pure-play cloud providers.

With a staggering $51 billion in contracted revenue and a unique, fully integrated strategy, Nscale is poised for a significant market entrance. The planned US IPO will serve as the ultimate litmus test for its ambitious vision and business model. The outcome will not only shape Nscale's future but could also influence investment trends across the AI sector.
