NODWIN Gaming has announced the launch of NODWIN Sports, a mainstream sports vertical designed to develop sporting properties, mass participation events, and commercial partnerships. The move marks a strategic expansion beyond gaming and esports into the broader youth media and entertainment landscape. With India as its base, the new division will focus on opportunities across the Global South.

Strategic Expansion Beyond Gaming

NODWIN Sports will concentrate on four core areas: new-age sports and mass-participation intellectual properties, sports advisory and governing body engagement, strategic partnerships and commercial alliances, and white-label execution and operations. The vertical aims to create original sports properties and advise federations, governing bodies, rights holders, and brands on commercial and ecosystem development. It will also offer end-to-end operational and production support for sporting events across multiple markets.

Leadership from a Seasoned Sports Executive

Gurbaksh Singh Virdi has joined NODWIN Gaming as Vice President to lead NODWIN Sports. He brings experience from Red Bull, U Sports, PUMA, Cornerstone, and Adidas India across sports marketing, athlete management, IP development, and commercial partnerships. Most recently, as Sports Marketing Lead at Adidas India, he managed initiatives across cricket, running, training, football, and motorsport, including partnerships with the BCCI and the Indian Olympic Association.

Creating Sports IP for Youth Audiences

NODWIN Sports will draw on the company's capabilities in content, production, partnerships, and community engagement to develop and operate sporting properties. NODWIN Gaming said its experience building youth-focused properties such as the BGMI Masters Series, Comic Con India, NH7 Weekender, and VCSA would help create sports IPs targeting younger audiences. This reflects a broader vision of building a youth media business spanning live events, content, and intellectual property.

Leadership Perspectives

Virdi described India's sports landscape as entering a phase shaped by audiences experiencing sport across competition, participation, entertainment, content, and culture. He said the ambition is to help build the culture around sport for the next decade in a way that is accessible, engaging, contemporary, and connected to youth culture. Rathee added that Virdi brings a combination of sports marketing experience and IP building expertise to lead this next chapter.

IPO Readiness and Global Ambitions

The announcement comes as NODWIN Gaming prepares for a potential initial public offering. In March, co-founder and Managing Director Akshat Rathee told Inc42 that the company was looking to raise around $100 million in a pre-IPO funding round. The company has said it will file draft papers only after achieving financial, governance, investor, and internal readiness.

A Growing Youth Entertainment Platform

Founded in 2014 by Akshat Rathee and Gautam Virk, NODWIN Gaming has expanded across gaming, esports, pop culture, music, live events, and content. The company operates in more than 20 countries and counts Nazara Technologies, KRAFTON, Sony Group Corporation, JetSynthesys, and Good Game Investments among its investors. It has been growing through acquisitions and investments across gaming, esports, and youth entertainment.

NODWIN Sports positions NODWIN Gaming to participate more deeply in the changing ways younger audiences experience sport across competition, entertainment, and culture. By combining proven event production with mainstream sports expertise, the new vertical aims to help federations, athletes, brands, and communities connect with the next generation. The initiative signals a measured step toward broader youth media ambitions while the company continues its journey toward a potential public listing.
