Belgian venture capital firm NewSchool VC has officially closed its first fund, NewSchool Fund I, at its €10 million target, marking a notable milestone for the young investment vehicle. Founded in 2025 by solo general partner Christophe Morbee, the fund focuses on early-stage B2B technology companies across Europe. The closing caps a fundraising effort that attracted support from six family offices and a broad group of Belgian entrepreneurs.
Fund Strategy and Investment Focus
NewSchool Fund I invests between €100,000 and €500,000 in B2B technology companies at the pre-seed and seed stages. Its primary investment areas include artificial intelligence, software as a service, cybersecurity, robotics, and compliance technologies, with a strong preference for startups that are modernizing established industries through automation. The fund looks for technically strong teams across Europe that need support in go-to-market execution, sales development, and compelling storytelling.
Portfolio and Early Traction
The fund has completed 32 investments to date, with three additional deals currently in the pipeline. Approximately 75 percent of its portfolio companies are based in Belgium, while the rest are spread across Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, France, and the United Kingdom. This geographic mix reflects a strategy of pairing a strong Belgian network with selective opportunities in neighboring European markets.
Notable Portfolio Companies
Portfolio companies include Warren, Spotable, Cashfeed, Ravical, Donna, Dalton, Feedelity, Alice Law, and Exhibitly. Several of these businesses, including Ravical, Warren, Spotable, and Donna, have already secured follow-on funding rounds. The fund has also recently invested in the Swiss company Talentir and the Paris-based startup Outline, demonstrating its wider European ambitions.
Backing from Belgian Investors
Around 50 investors backed the final fund, including six family offices such as The Millers Office and a number of Belgian business leaders. Notable individual backers include Willem Delbaere and Roeland Delrue of Aikido Security, Jean-Louis Van Houwe of Monizze, and Luc Coopman of Cobofisk. Christophe Morbee personally contributed 25 percent of the fund’s capital, ensuring strong alignment with the fund’s long-term performance.
Commercial Support Through besox
In addition to capital, NewSchool provides portfolio companies with support in go-to-market strategy, sales development, and storytelling. Morbee is also the CEO of besox, a Belgian payroll and HR administration provider that serves around 4,000 SME clients and maintains deep local business relationships. This network helps founders connect with potential early customers and accelerates their path to revenue in competitive B2B markets.
Market Opportunity and Vision
Morbee explained that Europe has many technically strong teams, but early-stage companies often lack commercial leadership. NewSchool aims to fill that gap through a combination of investment and hands-on guidance in sales and messaging. He added that significant room remains to automate established industries, creating meaningful opportunities for the years ahead.
The final close of NewSchool Fund I provides a structured platform for Morbee’s angel investing experience and his extensive Belgian business network. With 32 active investments and a pipeline of future deals, the fund has already established early momentum in the European B2B ecosystem. By combining targeted capital with commercial execution, NewSchool positions itself as a specialized partner for founders at the earliest stages of company building.
