Satellite communication pioneers Lynk and Omnispace have officially completed their merger, launching a new combined entity named Elveo Mobile. The new company aims to revolutionize global connectivity by delivering next-generation services directly from satellites to standard mobile devices on Earth. This strategic consolidation creates a formidable player in the direct-to-device (D2D) market, promising to eliminate mobile coverage gaps and enhance communication capabilities for a planet in constant motion.

A New Force in Satellite Communications

Elveo emerges from the union of two industry leaders, combining a remarkable 20 years of heritage in the D2D communications sector. The company inherits a powerful portfolio of assets, including globally coordinated, high-priority spectrum rights across multiple bands and patented multi-band satellite technology. This foundation positions Elveo to offer a robust and scalable solution for mobile network operators (MNOs) seeking to extend their coverage universally.

Vision for Elevated Intelligence

Leading the new venture is CEO Ramu Potarazu, who emphasized the company's mission to deliver a fundamental shift in communications. He stated that Elveo will connect "elevated intelligence" from its space network directly to users worldwide. This vision involves a satellite constellation capable of advanced on-board processing and networking, enabling dynamic adaptation and growth to meet evolving demands for data and voice services.

Seamless Global Connectivity

Elveo's core offering is designed to provide ubiquitous global connectivity that works seamlessly with the eight billion mobile phones and devices already in use. This eliminates the need for specialized hardware, making the service an accessible and affordable alternative for MNOs to bridge persistent coverage gaps. The network promises to bring reliable voice and data services to even the most remote and underserved regions of the planet.

Future-Proofing the Network

The company's network architecture is engineered for the future, with optimizations for 5G and beyond, as well as non-terrestrial networks (NTN). By leveraging its own licensed spectrum portfolio, Elveo can enable enhanced services for next-generation devices. This forward-looking approach is set to address critical coverage requirements for the consumer, automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), and government sectors.

Strong Market Position and Strategic Backing

Elveo enters the market with significant momentum, holding commercial agreements with over 50 MNOs and major distribution partners operating in more than 60 countries. The company is supported by a strong consortium of investors, including SES, Fortress, Stepstone, and Columbia Capital. This combination of established partnerships and solid financial backing gives Elveo a distinct advantage to accelerate its deployment and outpace competitors.

The formation of Elveo marks a pivotal moment for the satellite and telecommunications industries, signaling an accelerated push toward universal mobile connectivity. With its headquarters in the Washington, D.C. area, the company is strategically positioned to execute its ambitious goal of connecting the unconnected. Elveo's innovative approach promises to redefine the boundaries of mobile communication and unlock new possibilities for users and industries worldwide.
