Indian defense technology startup KshatraLabs has secured an undisclosed pre-seed investment from Finvolve and India Accelerator to accelerate the development of autonomous counter-drone systems. The Bengaluru-based company is building aerial interceptors designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial vehicles, including coordinated drone swarms, as demand for advanced counter-UAV technologies grows across defense and critical infrastructure sectors. The fresh capital will support research and development, engineering expansion, intellectual property, certifications, and field validation as KshatraLabs works to move its technology closer to operational deployment.
Advancing the HAWK Interceptor
At the center of KshatraLabs’ product development is HAWK, an autonomous aerial interceptor engineered for high-speed engagements against hostile drones and other airborne threats. The company says the system can operate at speeds exceeding 89.5 meters per second, equivalent to roughly 300 kilometers per hour, while achieving launch readiness in under five seconds and combining external radar information with onboard electro-optical and infrared sensors. KshatraLabs plans to use part of the new funding to advance HAWK toward Technology Readiness Level 6 and prepare the platform for more extensive field trials under realistic operating conditions.
Building a Software-Driven Defense Platform
HAWK is supported by APEX, KshatraLabs’ proprietary autonomy stack, which is designed to process sensor inputs, coordinate guidance, and enable rapid autonomous decision-making during high-speed interception missions. Beyond individual interceptors, the startup is developing swarm-capable systems intended to coordinate multiple autonomous units against larger or more complex drone attacks, reducing reliance on conventional one-to-one interception models. Its broader roadmap also includes an AI-native command-and-control architecture aimed at combining data from multiple sensors and supporting operations in contested environments where communications or satellite navigation may be degraded.
Moving Toward Field Validation
KshatraLabs says it has already demonstrated autonomous interception capabilities and completed hardware-in-the-loop testing at speeds of approximately 90 meters per second, providing an early indication of the platform’s technical progress. The company has also engaged with the Indian Armed Forces to gather feedback on hard-kill counter-drone requirements and is seeking to align its technology with emerging defense procurement needs and operational specifications. In addition to the new private investment, KshatraLabs has received support through the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, which has contributed to its product development and engineering activities.

Finvolve and India Accelerator are backing KshatraLabs as India places greater emphasis on domestically developed defense technologies capable of responding to rapidly evolving aerial threats with greater autonomy, speed, and cost efficiency. The investors see the company’s software-led architecture, indigenous technology development, and focus on scalable counter-drone capabilities as aligned with the country’s broader push to strengthen sovereign defense manufacturing and next-generation security systems.
