Koshida Corporation, a prominent Japanese distributor, has announced a strategic partnership with South Korean edge AI semiconductor firm DEEPX. The agreement, finalized on July 2, 2026, aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced edge AI solutions throughout the Japanese market. This collaboration will leverage Koshida's extensive network to promote DEEPX's innovative Neural Processing Unit (NPU) technology.

The Rise of On-Device Intelligence

The demand for edge AI is rapidly increasing across diverse sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, and security. This technology enables real-time data processing directly on devices, eliminating the need for cloud dependency. Consequently, it offers significant advantages such as reduced latency and lower power consumption, which are critical for on-site AI applications.

A Partnership Forged for Market Expansion

This strategic alliance combines the distinct strengths of both companies to capitalize on the growing market opportunities. Koshida will utilize its established domestic sales network and deep market insights to drive the adoption of DEEPX's products. In return, DEEPX provides its state-of-the-art NPU technology, designed for high-performance, low-power AI inference at the edge.

Under the terms of the agreement, Koshida will receive preferential access to DEEPX's product supply and dedicated customer support. This priority status will empower the company to pursue and secure new projects more strategically and efficiently. The partnership formalizes and deepens an existing collaborative relationship, setting the stage for a more aggressive market penetration strategy.

DEEPX's Advanced NPU Technology

At the core of this partnership is DEEPX's industry-leading NPU technology, which is engineered for the era of "Physical AI". The company's flagship products are manufactured using a 5nm process, achieving exceptional power efficiency. This advanced hardware is supported by a robust portfolio of over 500 global patents, underscoring the company's innovation.

DEEPX's primary NPU, the DX-M1, delivers a remarkable performance of 25 trillion operations per second (TOPS) while consuming only 3 to 5 watts of power. This combination of high-performance inference and ultra-low power consumption makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of edge devices. The technology has already gained international recognition and adoption among global customers.

Leadership Perspectives on the Collaboration

Kei Koshida, Head of the Innovation Promotion Division at Koshida, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership's potential. He noted that DEEPX's technology directly addresses the rising demand in Japan for efficient AI applications in industrial and infrastructure settings. The agreement establishes a framework for prioritizing joint business opportunities and accelerating project acquisition across the country.

DEEPX CEO Lok Won Kim identified Japan as a pivotal market for the future of "Physical AI". He cited the nation's manufacturing prowess, advanced robotics industry, and the growing need for automation as key drivers for adoption. Kim views this partnership as a crucial milestone for the full-scale commercialization of DEEPX's NPUs in Japan.

The strategic alliance between Koshida Corporation and DEEPX marks a significant step forward for the edge AI landscape in Japan. By combining Koshida's market reach with DEEPX's technological innovation, the partnership is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of Japanese industries. This collaboration is expected to drive widespread adoption of on-device AI, paving the way for more intelligent and efficient systems.
