Kopo Kopo has launched K2 Connect V2, an upgraded version of its payments API suite designed to help businesses embed payment functionality directly into their existing software and operational workflows. The release expands the capabilities available to developers integrating payments into point-of-sale systems, accounting platforms, online stores, mobile applications, payroll tools, and enterprise resource planning systems. Kopo Kopo said the update is intended to make payment integrations faster while reducing the need for businesses to move between separate applications when managing transactions.

Expanded Payment Capabilities

K2 Connect V2 introduces several new functions, including transaction reversals, payment links, bulk payments, improved webhooks, and broader support for Daraja payment-response formats. Businesses can now initiate reversals directly from their point-of-sale or other connected systems rather than switching to the Kopo Kopo application to complete the process. The payment-link feature also allows merchants to generate and share links with customers while receiving notifications once transactions have been successfully completed.

Streamlining Business Payments

The new bulk-payment functionality is designed for companies that need to automate multiple outgoing transactions, including payments to employees, suppliers, or other recipients. Businesses can send money to several M-PESA phone numbers or bank accounts directly from payroll, POS, ERP, or other integrated systems, reducing manual payment processing. Kopo Kopo has also expanded its Daraja payload compatibility so developers can receive both customer-to-business and business-to-business payment responses using familiar formats.

Improved Automation and Notifications

K2 Connect V2 also introduces enhanced webhook functionality aimed at improving communication between payment activity and companies' internal systems. Real-time alerts can automatically update back-office applications after transactions occur, allowing businesses to close orders, reconcile payments, or update invoices without relying on manual intervention. The platform continues to support transaction polling, STK Push requests, payment notifications, and transfers to bank accounts and M-PESA alongside the newly introduced features.

Continued Support for Existing Integrations

Kopo Kopo confirmed that businesses currently using K2 Connect V1 will not be required to migrate immediately, as the original version will continue to be supported. However, the company is encouraging developers and businesses to upgrade to V2 to access the expanded functionality and performance improvements available in the latest release. Existing integrations already support core capabilities including M-PESA payment acceptance, instant transfers, transaction-status checks, and connections with platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo, and WooCommerce.

Developer Access and Integration

Developers can begin working with K2 Connect V2 through Kopo Kopo's developer resources, including integration guides, API documentation, and a sandbox environment for testing applications before deployment. The company also provides software development kits for PHP, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, and Dart, giving development teams several options for building the APIs into existing products. These resources are intended to lower the technical barriers associated with adding payment functionality while allowing businesses to retain control over the customer experience within their own systems.

The launch of K2 Connect V2 strengthens Kopo Kopo's developer-focused payments infrastructure as businesses increasingly seek to embed financial services directly into their operational software. By adding reversals, payment links, bulk payouts, expanded Daraja compatibility, and improved webhooks, the company is broadening the range of transactions that can be handled without leaving existing business applications. Kopo Kopo, which says its services are already used by more than 40,000 businesses, is positioning the upgraded APIs as a foundation for faster and more automated digital payment experiences.
