Healthtech startup Rio.ai has secured Rs 43.08 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by new investor Version One Ventures. Existing investors Xeed Ventures, Good Capital, and Amplify Partners also participated in the round. The company is building an AI-powered quick-commerce platform for medicines and healthcare essentials under the Rio Health brand.

Funding Details and Valuation

Rio.ai's board approved the allotment of 7,130 compulsorily convertible preference shares at an issue price of Rs 60,415 per share to raise the announced amount. This share issuance enabled the company to secure the Rs 43.08 crore in its pre-Series A round. Entrackr estimates that Rio.ai's post-money valuation stood at approximately Rs 170 crore following the transaction.

Investor Contributions and Shareholding

Version One Ventures led the round with an investment of Rs 21.30 crore, while Xeed Ventures put in Rs 11.84 crore. Good Capital Fund II contributed Rs 9.47 crore, and Amplify IV PCC added Rs 47 lakh. Following the allotment, Xeed Ventures holds a 21.11 percent stake, Good Capital holds 17.07 percent, Version One Ventures owns 12.86 percent, and co-founders Ankur Agrawal and Amit Ahuja hold 17.50 percent each.

Planned Use of Funds

Rio.ai plans to use the newly raised capital for several operational and strategic purposes. The funds will be deployed toward general operating expenses, working capital requirements, capital expenditure, and strengthening the company's capital base. The investment will also support the expansion of its business operations as the startup continues to scale its AI-powered healthcare platform.

Platform and Business Model

Rio.ai operates at the intersection of healthcare, artificial intelligence, and quick commerce. Its Rio Health platform allows users to order medicines and other healthcare products through WhatsApp, with deliveries promised within 15 to 30 minutes. This approach is designed to make the process of ordering essential health products more accessible through a conversational interface.

Founding Team and Company Vision

Rio.ai was founded by Ankur Agrawal and Amit Ahuja, who hold equal stakes in the startup after the latest round. The founders are focused on building an AI-powered quick-commerce platform that serves the growing demand for fast access to medicines and healthcare essentials. Their leadership reflects a broader push toward blending artificial intelligence with consumer health services.

Prior Investor Interest

Earlier reports indicated that Rio.ai was in talks to raise around $5 million from Binny Bansal, Canada-based funds, and other investors. The latest pre-Series A round brings Version One Ventures in as a new investor while existing backers have continued their participation. This activity highlights sustained investor confidence in the healthtech startup's quick-commerce model.

Strategic Positioning

The funding positions Rio.ai to strengthen its capital base and pursue expansion in a competitive healthtech market. The company's WhatsApp-based ordering model addresses accessibility and speed in medicine delivery, setting it apart from traditional pharmacy channels. With fresh resources, Rio.ai can enhance its operations and pursue broader adoption of its platform.

With Rs 43.08 crore in fresh capital, Rio.ai is positioned to strengthen its AI-powered healthcare delivery platform and expand its operations. The participation of both new and existing investors reflects confidence in the company's WhatsApp-based quick-commerce approach for medicines. As Rio.ai continues to develop its offerings, the funding will support its operating needs and infrastructure while advancing its presence in the growing healthtech sector.
