Grupo Cannect, a health platform specializing in medicinal cannabis, has announced its acquisition of the digital pharmacy Pill. This strategic transaction significantly expands Cannect's scope into the broader market for chronic disease treatments. The company projects this move will boost its revenue to over R$ 200 million by the end of 2028, positioning it as a major player in Brazil's digital health sector.

Strategic Expansion into Chronic Care

The acquisition directly addresses the primary challenge in chronic care, which is the frequent discontinuation of treatment by patients. By integrating Pill's services, Cannect aims to provide a seamless medication supply chain for those with long-term health conditions. This model ensures patients receive their medications consistently through an automated subscription service, improving adherence and overall health outcomes.

This deal dramatically broadens Cannect's pharmaceutical offerings, adding approximately 17,000 new products to its catalog. The company will now serve patients with conditions in cardiology, pneumology, oncology, and gastroenterology, among other areas. This expansion transforms Cannect's ecosystem beyond its original focus on neurology, psychiatry, and geriatrics, creating a more comprehensive health platform.

Integrating Operations and Customer Bases

The merger combines Cannect's existing 100,000 patients with Pill's substantial base of 150,000 subscription customers. A phased technical and operational integration of the two platforms has already commenced and is scheduled for completion within the next three months. This process will unify the user experience and streamline backend operations for the newly enlarged entity, although any overlap in the customer bases was not specified.

According to CEO Allan Paiotti, the goal is to offer a complete, end-to-end patient journey within a single platform. This integrated service will cover the entire process from initial diagnosis and medical prescription to the continuous delivery of medication. The company's vision is to provide comprehensive and uninterrupted support for managing any chronic pathology, simplifying the patient experience.

Financial Outlook and Market Context

With this acquisition, Grupo Cannect has set an ambitious financial target, projecting its revenue will surpass R$ 200 million by 2028. This move occurs as the Brazilian medicinal cannabis market experiences significant growth, providing a strong foundation for the company's expansion. The diversification into general chronic care positions Cannect to capture a larger share of the burgeoning digital health sector.

Since its founding in 2021, Cannect has successfully raised R$ 40 million in capital from various funding rounds. The company is backed by prominent investors, including Supera Capital, which unites Globo Ventures and television personality Luciano Huck, and BluStone. This strong financial support has been crucial in fueling the company's rapid expansion and strategic acquisitions in a competitive market.

The acquisition of Pill marks a transformative step for Grupo Cannect, evolving its business model from a specialized cannabis platform to a comprehensive digital pharmacy. This strategic pivot into the wider chronic disease market significantly enhances its service offerings and customer reach. The move positions Cannect for accelerated growth and solidifies its role as a key innovator in Brazil's evolving digital healthcare landscape.
