Australian agricultural technology company Farmbot has raised more than A$22 million, equivalent to roughly US$15 million, to expand its workforce, improve its existing remote monitoring platform, and develop additional technology for farmers and livestock producers. Founded in Sydney in 2014, the company has built a connected monitoring system that helps producers track critical farm infrastructure without needing to physically inspect every site. The new investment will support Farmbot’s continued growth in Australia while accelerating international expansion, including in the United States, where the company operates under the Ranchbot brand.

Expanding Remote Farm Monitoring

Farmbot provides rugged sensors and satellite-connected monitoring tools designed to give producers near real-time information about water and other essential agricultural assets. Its platform allows farmers and graziers to monitor tanks, troughs, dams, pumps, and rainfall from mobile devices, reducing the need for long trips across large properties to conduct manual checks. By giving producers greater visibility over remote infrastructure, the company aims to reduce operational risk, save time, conserve water, and improve the management of livestock operations.

The technology is currently used by more than 12,000 customers who collectively manage around 10 million cattle and 15 million sheep across tens of millions of hectares. Farmbot has positioned simplicity as a central part of its product strategy, seeking to combine monitoring functions within a single platform instead of requiring producers to rely on multiple disconnected applications. The company plans to use part of the new funding to further develop both its hardware and software while improving the overall value delivered to customers.

Funding Supports Australian and International Growth

Farmbot said the capital will allow it to expand its Australian team and place more employees directly in farming and grazing regions. Co-founder and Executive Chairman Andrew Coppin described the financing as an important milestone for a company that has spent more than a decade developing technology for agricultural communities. He said the investment would enable Farmbot to strengthen its domestic operations, continue refining its products, and invest in the next phase of technology for the sector.

The funding round was backed by both Australian and international investors, including the Cultiv8 Livestock Technology Fund and long-standing investor Macdoch Ventures. Cultiv8 was established with support from Meat & Livestock Australia and focuses on technology intended to improve productivity and outcomes across the livestock industry. The participation of sector-focused investors reflects continued interest in agricultural technologies that combine sensing, connectivity, automation, and data to improve farm management.

Technology Becoming Core Farm Infrastructure

Cultiv8 founding partner Mal Nutt said remote monitoring, sensing, and artificial intelligence are increasingly becoming core infrastructure for modern livestock businesses. Farmbot and Ranchbot provide producers with real-time intelligence on critical assets, including water systems and livestock-related infrastructure, giving operators the ability to respond to problems more quickly. According to Nutt, these capabilities can help reduce operational risks while also supporting water efficiency, animal welfare, and productivity.

Farmbot’s international strategy is also becoming a larger part of its growth plans as the company seeks to apply technology developed for Australian agricultural conditions in other markets. Its US operations under the Ranchbot name provide the company with a platform for expanding into one of the world’s largest agricultural markets while maintaining its established Australian presence. The latest funding gives Farmbot additional resources to scale that strategy while continuing to invest in technologies designed specifically for farms, ranches, and large livestock properties.

Farmbot’s A$22 million-plus raise represents a significant expansion step for an Australian AgTech company that has grown from a locally developed monitoring solution into an increasingly international platform. The investment will support additional hiring, product development, and global expansion while strengthening tools already used by thousands of agricultural businesses. As digital monitoring and connected infrastructure become more integrated into farm operations, Farmbot is positioning its platform as part of the technology layer supporting more efficient and data-driven agriculture.
