Ecosys, a Mumbai-based laundry and home cleaning brand, has raised Rs 5 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by GVFL Prarambh Fund. Proteus Partners also participated in the round, bringing operator investors Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil into the cap table. The investment takes the company's total funding raised to Rs 7.94 crore and marks another step in its push to grow a sustainable cleaning portfolio.

Capital Allocation and Brand Expansion

The proceeds will primarily be directed toward building the Ecosys brand and expanding its consumer base through digital channels. The company also intends to introduce new product formats across both laundry and home cleaning. These plans align with its broader ambition to reach households that prefer compact, low-waste alternatives over conventional ready-to-use cleaners.

Ecosys is positioning itself as a premium and convenience-led brand, with sales currently focused on quick-commerce and e-commerce platforms. The company believes that digital distribution supports its goal of making sustainable cleaning formats more accessible. Its investment in digital consumer outreach is expected to reinforce this channel-led strategy and improve discovery among urban households.

Product Innovation and Sustainability

Founded in 2017 by Sumit Goyal and Chirag Dangi, Ecosys specializes in water-soluble cleaning and laundry pods. Its products use 10-ml polyvinyl alcohol capsules that dissolve completely in water and help reduce dependence on single-use plastic bottles. The formulations are designed to be non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for children and pets.

The product portfolio extends beyond laundry pods to include glass cleaners, floor cleaners, bathroom cleaners, and kitchen and utensil sprays. Instead of requiring new plastic packaging with every purchase, Ecosys encourages customers to refill and reuse existing spray bottles. This approach combines convenience with a tangible reduction in household plastic waste.

The company's focus on non-toxic chemistry is also aimed at households with children and pets, where safety is a priority. Ecosys says its capsules help consumers avoid repeatedly buying new plastic containers for every cleaning need. This reusable element is central to its promise of combining everyday cleaning with environmental responsibility.

Market Growth and Competitive Landscape

India's household cleaners market is growing at nearly 14% annually, which is more than double the global growth rate. The segment is seeing stronger adoption of sustainable, concentrated, and water-efficient formats such as laundry pods, plant-based detergents, and refill solutions. Ecosys is entering this expansion with a product line that fits the shift toward low-waste packaging.

Investor activity in the eco-friendly home care space has been notable, with Koparo raising Rs 14.5 crore in an extended pre-Series A round last year. Cleevo secured $1 million in a seed round, while Beco raised $10 million from Tanglin Venture Partners. Scrubsy also raised Rs 27 crore from V3 Ventures in August this year, reflecting continued investor confidence.

With the new Rs 5 crore pre-Series A investment, Ecosys has secured additional resources to scale its brand and broaden its product formats. The company's water-soluble pod model and reusable bottle approach give it a differentiated position in India's expanding home cleaning market. As consumer interest in sustainable alternatives grows, Ecosys will need to convert that awareness into consistent adoption across digital and quick-commerce channels.
