DropGenie, a functional biology company with offices in Montreal and Boston, raised $5 million in Seed+ financing. BDC Thrive Venture Fund invested alongside Skeleton Key. Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, CQDM, Real Ventures, and Anges Quebec also participated.
Commercial expansion
The new capital will accelerate commercialization of its first product. That product is already being integrated into workflows at major global pharma, biotech, and research organizations. DropGenie is expanding options for customers to run protocols, use services, or form data partnerships.
Investor context
BDC Thrive Venture Fund is a $350 million fund that invests in women-led Canadian technology companies. The investment adds a long-term Canadian partner at the board level. Skeleton Key said DropGenie is accelerating discovery with innovative technology.
Platform details
DropGenie's automated microfluidic platform miniaturizes gene editing workflows. It enables high-efficiency edits directly in primary patient cells. It uses up to 100 times fewer cells and far less reagent than conventional workflows.
DropGenie is working with leading partners across primary-cell applications. A broader rollout is planned early next year. The company supports cell therapy, functional genomics, and AI-driven drug development.
