doxx.net, a networking company founded by Barrett Lyon, has launched the open beta of its Agentic Defined Networking platform and announced US$38 million in Series A funding. The platform allows people and their AI agents to create private, secure networks without relying on intermediary servers or providing personal information. The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Animo Ventures and Focal.vc.

Purpose-Built for the Agent Era

The platform addresses emerging security risks as AI agents increasingly browse, communicate, and act on behalf of users. It provides a policy-defined networking environment with DNS-level threat protection that blocks known and emerging malicious destinations before a connection occurs. Since December 2025, doxx.net says it has blocked more than 38 million threats during closed beta.

Agents on doxx.net receive their own network identity, private channels to communicate with humans and other agents, and the ability to build the network they run on through a full network API with native MCP support. The platform treats people and agents as peers on infrastructure that the company owns end to end. This approach contrasts with services that route traffic through rented infrastructure, according to the company.

Funding and Strategic Backing

The US$38 million Series A round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with additional participation from Animo Ventures and Focal.vc. Joel De La Garza, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, has joined the doxx.net board. De La Garza said the internet was never designed for privacy, and he described doxx.net as a one-stop privacy stack built from first principles.

Experienced Leadership

Barrett Lyon, doxx.net's founder and CEO, brings more than 20 years of experience building internet infrastructure and tracking threat actors. He founded Prolexic Technologies, one of the first DDoS mitigation networks, which was acquired by Akamai, and later founded BitGravity, XDN, and Defense.net. These companies were acquired by Tata Communications, Fortinet, and F5 respectively.

Architecture and Security Capabilities

doxx.net positions its platform as a parallel, sovereign internet with its own DNS root, IP space, encrypted mesh, and agent-driven networking. Key capabilities include agentic network configuration, peer-to-peer encrypted calls and file transfers, DNS protection, covert networking, anti-fingerprinting, onion routing, and a parallel internet ecosystem with 196 custom top-level domains. The company also offers native applications for iOS, macOS, and Android, with Windows and Linux support.

Founder and CEO Barrett Lyon said the industry sells privacy as a feature while routing traffic through rented infrastructure that companies do not own and cannot verify. He stated that doxx.net physically built a different platform where privacy comes from architecture rather than policy documents. The company says accounts require no usernames, passwords, email addresses, or phone numbers and are created via proof-of-work.

Open Beta Availability

Users can join the open beta without an email, phone number, or account. The company invites people to start at app.doxx.net, join its Discord community, or have an AI agent visit config.doxx.net. doxx.net operates on infrastructure it owns across six continents, including its own IP space, autonomous system number, DNS root, certificate authority, local AI models, and bare-metal servers.

With the open beta launch and Series A funding, doxx.net is entering the market with a privacy-by-architecture alternative for individuals, enterprises, and AI agents. The company's approach aims to give users and their agents full control over connectivity, communications, and security without third-party intermediaries. The backing from Andreessen Horowitz and experienced leadership signals a notable expansion in agentic networking and private internet infrastructure.
