Rotterdam-based HealthTech startup Ditto has successfully secured €7.6 million in a funding round to fuel its European expansion. The company developed an AI-powered application designed to translate complex medical information into understandable language for patients. The investment was led by Heal Capital, with notable participation from Optiverder and Rubio Impact Ventures.


Empowering Patients Through Clear Communication

Ditto addresses a common challenge where patients leave consultations feeling uncertain and unable to recall crucial details. The app allows users to record conversations with doctors or photograph medical letters for processing. Within minutes, it generates a clear, structured summary, helping to eliminate confusion and improve patient comprehension.

The platform is designed to put control back into the hands of the patient, offering features like translation into English, Turkish, or Arabic. This functionality ensures that language barriers do not hinder a patient's understanding of their own health. By simplifying medical jargon, the app helps individuals and their families make more informed decisions about their care.

Rapid Growth and Industry Recognition

Since its launch last summer, the application has demonstrated significant market traction, attracting nearly 100,000 users. This rapid adoption is supported by endorsements from key industry players, including the Dutch Patients' Federation. Furthermore, health insurer Menzis has begun recommending the app to all its policyholders, validating its utility.

The company's innovative approach has also earned formal accolades, recently winning the 2026 Dutch National Healthcare Innovation Award. Co-founder Tobias Polak emphasized the company's mission to fundamentally shift healthcare thinking to a patient-first perspective. He envisions a future where understanding one's care journey is as simple as using a navigation app. This ambition for accessible and clear healthcare information is a core driver of the company's strategy.

Expansion Plans and Data Privacy Commitment

The new capital will be strategically deployed to expand Ditto's presence across Europe and introduce new features. These enhancements will further support patients and their families, offering tools like pre-consultation question guides and a visual care journey.
