Dencom, a dental artificial intelligence company led by CEO Lim Byung-jun, announced the launch of DentHub 1.0. The company describes the product as an AI-native integrated dental platform rather than an electronic chart with added AI features. DentHub uses an ambient approach in which its in-house AI engine Densper listens to conversations in waiting, treatment, and consultation rooms and structures them into the same patient chart.

Ambient AI With Human Oversight

Existing dental electronic charts already structure tooth notation, treatment and insurance codes, and periodontal data. However, clinicians often enter this information after treatment by recalling the encounter, which keeps the data creation process manual. DentHub changes that order by activating AI at the point of documentation and interpreting spoken meaning into structured chart items.

The platform also references the patient's previous treatment and prescription history when proposing prescription candidates. Every AI-generated chart and prescription is provided as a draft, requiring confirmation and signature from a clinician before it becomes a final record or order. This human-in-the-loop design is intended to preserve clinical accountability while reducing manual input.

End-to-End Clinical and Revenue Cycle Support

During intake, DentHub classifies symptoms and medications described by patients and guardians into chart fields such as chief complaint, past medical history, and dental history. The Densper engine registers each clinician's voice, distinguishes speakers in noisy dental environments, and is trained on specialist terms, suction noise, handpiece sounds, and tooth numbers. Free-flowing conversations are automatically categorized into SOAP notes, while deliberately stated phrases such as 'tooth 36 root canal treatment second visit' are entered into the corresponding chart cell.

Once treatment details are confirmed, the platform carries them into payment and insurance claim workflows. AI proposes billable items based on the care delivered and flags possible claim reductions or additional billable opportunities. Staff are expected to review the evidence behind each proposal before making the final claim decision within the system.

Multilingual Support and Clinical Pilot

DentHub is delivered as a multilingual platform that operates natively in eight languages: Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. Instead of adding translation to a Korean product, Dencom trained the AI on dental terminology in each language to support reception guidance, treatment explanations, and follow-up communication. The company highlighted rising demand from international patients, with South Korea reporting a record 2.01 million foreign patients in 2025 and dental visits increasing 79.0% year over year.

Dencom signed an agreement with Seoul Western Dental Hospital for People with Disabilities in July and is piloting DentHub in waiting, consultation, and treatment rooms. The facility, operated by Seoul National University Dental Hospital, is targeting an official transition in November. The adoption aims to redirect staff labor from recordkeeping and data entry to patient response and direct care.

Flexible Architecture and Validation

DentHub is built on a microservices architecture that organizes reception, scheduling, administration, imaging, prescribing, patient management, and analytics as independent services. Hospitals can adopt only the modules they need and integrate the platform with existing EMR or imaging systems without a full replacement. For institutions with restricted external connections, Dencom offers on-premises deployment using Densper sLM, a dental-specific small language model developed in-house.

The on-premises option allows patient voice and treatment records to be processed inside a closed hospital network without external AI services, supporting tertiary and public institutions with limited data transfer. Dencom also validated real-time translation at SIDEX 2026 and verified integration with Open Dental, a dental practice management system used in the United States. The company plans to expand adoption among university hospitals, general hospitals, and public medical institutions.

CEO Lim Byung-jun said dentistry is an optimal domain for AI because imaging, voice, and structured records are generated together, yet data creation has remained manual. He described DentHub as a platform that treats AI as a premise for data design, allowing clinicians to focus on patients rather than records. Lim added that reducing documentation burdens can improve care quality and claim accuracy, especially in disability care and public healthcare.
