The funding was co-led by General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners, signaling strong investor confidence in the company's mission. A Novel Chip-to-Grid Platform

The company's strategy centers on its proprietary chip-to-grid platform, which features two core components. Its Integrated Voltage Regulator (IVR) delivers power directly to processing units, enhancing on-chip efficiency. This is complemented by the Power Gateway, a DC-native distributor that minimizes AC/DC conversion losses and streamlines integration with diverse power sources.

Significant Progress and Technical Milestones

In the 13 months since emerging from stealth with initial funding, Claros has made substantial progress. The company has fabricated three distinct IVR designs, which are currently undergoing rigorous testing in its Los Angeles-area lab. It has also completed initial hardware and software designs for its Power Gateway, with a demonstration unit now assembled.

The company's advanced IVR design, known as A1, is particularly noteworthy for its innovative architecture. This design serves as the foundation for a proprietary mesh network that enables power delivery to scale from a single module to large clusters. This scalability is crucial for supporting the massive power requirements of next-generation AI processors and systems.

Key investors believe that the power infrastructure supporting AI represents a monumental investment opportunity. Paul Kwan of General Catalyst highlighted the need to rethink the entire energy stack and praised the Claros team for its unique experience. The company's rapid progress in modernizing power delivery from the chip to the grid has been a critical factor in securing this funding.

Irena Spazzapan, a managing partner at the firm, noted the Claros team's impressive track record in power electronics. Their comprehensive vision for the full power architecture makes Claros a frontier company poised for significant impact.

With this new capital, Claros is set to enter a new phase of growth and development. The company plans to expand its lab facilities, grow its team of experts, and continue prototyping its IVR and Power Gateway technologies. A primary goal is to begin its first manufacturing runs to bring its efficiency-boosting solutions to the market.
