CellPoint has unveiled a new leadership team, a US$34 million investment from Toscafund through its private equity affiliate Penta Capital, and the launch of Zenith, an artificial intelligence decisioning platform for airline and hospitality payments. The announcement, made on 22 September 2026 in London, positions the company to focus on payments as a strategic financial lever. The investment and platform launch are intended to accelerate growth in two sectors where payment performance directly affects margins and revenue.

Leadership Appointments and Investment

Penta Capital has appointed Kevin Murphy as Group Chief Executive Officer and Michael Kelly as Chairman. Their mandate is to transform CellPoint and build an AI-led payments platform across the airline and hospitality markets. The new leadership will focus on improving how payment costs and revenue lines are managed within large travel enterprises.

Kevin Murphy described payments as one of the largest controllable cost and revenue lines in airline and hotel profit and loss statements, yet among the least well managed. He said Zenith uses AI to improve approval rates, reduce the cost of payments, recover lost revenue, and provide chief financial officers with live visibility into payment operations. The US$34 million investment will allow the company to build the platform at pace.

Zenith Platform and Its Role

Zenith is an AI decisioning layer that sits above any payment orchestrator, whether CellPoint's own system or a third-party solution. This design allows airlines and hotels to adopt the technology without replacing their existing payment stack. The platform turns payment data into automated commercial decisions aimed at improving financial outcomes.

The company said Zenith responds to a gap in how travel businesses manage payment performance. It is designed to give finance leaders real-time insight into what their payment infrastructure is doing. By applying AI, the platform can help operators act on transaction data more effectively than traditional payment processing tools.

Expansion and Executive Team

The Toscafund investment will fund 50 new roles in product, data, AI, sales, and partnerships across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The company also strengthened its executive team with Patrick Uckermark appointed as Chief Product and Technology Officer. He will lead the AI and data roadmap for CellPoint.

The expansion is intended to support development of the Zenith platform and deepen relationships with airline and hospitality clients. New hires will be distributed across key global regions to support commercial growth and product innovation. The company views this as an important step in scaling its payment technology offering.

Investor Confidence

Steven Scott, Managing Partner at Penta Capital, said the firm backed the team and the plan. He noted that Kevin Murphy and Michael Kelly have the experience to transform CellPoint and the discipline to turn AI into measurable financial results for airlines and hotels. He described Zenith as a genuinely differentiated position in a category that matters.

Penta Capital confirmed that the US$34 million investment reflects confidence in the company's direction and in the Zenith platform. The firm believes the airline and hospitality sectors are ready for a more intelligent approach to payment operations. The backing is expected to support both product development and market expansion.

With new leadership, fresh capital, and the launch of Zenith, CellPoint is making a focused push to become an AI-led payment platform for airlines and hospitality. The company is betting that smarter payment decisions can deliver measurable improvements in revenue and cost control for travel operators. The coming months will show how quickly the strategy translates into client adoption and financial impact.
