Cegedim Santé, a major player in French digital health and the publisher of the Maiia medical appointment platform, has announced its acquisition of Médoucine. The platform, known for connecting users with complementary care practitioners, joins Cegedim to build a leading reference in integrative health. This strategic move comes as one in two French citizens now utilizes complementary therapies, signaling a significant shift in healthcare preferences.
A Strategic Expansion into a Growing Market
The acquisition provides Cegedim Santé with a strategic entry into the complementary care sector, a market it previously did not serve. Médoucine, often dubbed the “Doctolib of alternative medicine,” gives Cegedim access to an estimated 80,000 practitioners in France, including sophrologists, naturopaths, and hypnotherapists. This move diversifies Cegedim's portfolio beyond the conventional medical professionals registered on its Maiia platform.
While the financial terms were not disclosed, Médoucine was generating approximately two million euros in revenue and was profitable at the time of the deal. Under the agreement, Médoucine will operate as a distinct legal entity, with founder Solange Arnaud remaining as CEO and the team staying intact. The two platforms, Maiia and Médoucine, will continue to serve their separate audiences, ensuring clarity for users and practitioners.
A Model Built on Quality and Trust
Médoucine's success is built on a subscription model for practitioners that prioritizes quality and transparency through a rigorous vetting process. The platform verifies the credentials of its listed professionals and systematically collects user reviews after each consultation to maintain high standards. Founder Solange Arnaud emphasizes her mission to structure the sector and guide individuals seeking reliable complementary care options.
The company has navigated scrutiny regarding the reliability of some practitioners, including a full review by French authorities. The investigation ultimately cleared Médoucine, validating its operational model while recommending enhanced moderation for specific practices like acupuncture. This commitment to oversight has been central to building trust with its growing user base, which now facilitates nearly 50,000 monthly bookings.
Fostering Collaboration for Integrative Health
This partnership aims to build bridges between conventional medicine and complementary practices, moving towards a more integrative health model. The collaboration is grounded in an existing trend, as 44% of practitioners on the Médoucine network already work with medical doctors. The goal is to leverage Cegedim's established relationships within the medical community to formalize and expand these cooperative efforts.
With Cegedim's support, Médoucine plans to accelerate its growth, enhance its technological offerings for practitioners, and increase public awareness about responsible complementary care. The alliance will also focus on intensifying collective initiatives, including research and institutional dialogue, to further integrate these practices into the broader healthcare landscape. Future developments will be unveiled at the Assises des pratiques complémentaires event on November 5, 2026.
The acquisition of Médoucine by Cegedim Santé marks a significant milestone in the formalization of France's complementary care sector. By combining Médoucine's curated network with Cegedim's technological and industry expertise, the partnership is poised to advance a more holistic and integrated approach to health. This strategic union reflects a shared ambition to create a structured, responsible ecosystem that meets the evolving wellness needs of the French population.
