Jusbrasil has announced the full acquisition of MinutaIA, a Brazilian legal technology startup focused on artificial intelligence for complex legal document drafting. MinutaIA was founded in February 2025 as a bootstrap company and has already reached R$100 million in annual recurring revenue. The transaction is Jusbrasil's second deal in the artificial intelligence sector and accelerates its ambition to reach R$1 billion in revenue this year.
Strategic Combination for Legal AI
The acquisition brings together Jusbrasil's legal research platform and MinutaIA's document generation capabilities. Jusbrasil serves more than one million legal professionals, while MinutaIA supports over 1,000 law firms and about 180 public institutions, including the São Paulo Court of Justice. Both companies said the combination is intended to accelerate access to justice by reducing the time required for legal drafting and research.
Deal Structure and Leadership
Under the terms of the agreement, MinutaIA will continue to operate independently with its own brand, product, roadmap, and dedicated 24-person team. Founder Caio Perona will remain chief executive officer of MinutaIA and will also become a partner at Jusbrasil following the acquisition. The companies stated that no existing products will be discontinued and that customer contracts and subscription plans will remain unchanged.
Growth and Market Validation
MinutaIA has generated more than 35 million legal documents since its launch and currently counts over 100,000 monthly users, roughly half of them paying customers. The startup has remained at breakeven since its first day of operation and has not raised venture capital, according to founder Caio Perona. Jusbrasil chief executive Rafael Costa described MinutaIA as one of the five largest legaltechs in Brazil and called its growth case the most impressive he has seen.
AI Expansion and Financial Ambition
This acquisition follows Jusbrasil's 2024 purchase of a 25 percent stake in Maritaca AI, a developer of a Brazilian large language model. Jusbrasil now reports 3 million paying users and 25 million unique monthly visits, with 85 percent of revenue coming from artificial intelligence products. Its JusIA chatbot has 350,000 subscribers on plans ranging from R$60 to R$200 per month, and the company aims to reach R$1 billion in revenue this year.
A Shared Mission to Improve Justice
MinutaIA's leadership said the decision to join Jusbrasil was driven by speed and mission alignment rather than financial necessity. Caio Perona explained that the startup could have succeeded independently, but chose the faster path to scale its impact on Brazil's justice system. The company's mission centers on making justice quicker, more accessible, and higher quality by combining human judgment with artificial intelligence.
Integration and Product Roadmap
The two product lines will cooperate without being absorbed into a single platform, according to public statements from both companies. MinutaIA will gain additional depth from Jusbrasil's extensive legal research database, while the JusIA platform will benefit from MinutaIA's proven experience in drafting complex legal documents. Both product roadmaps will continue to evolve separately, with gradual integrations evaluated carefully over time.
