Brazilian startup Guipa has successfully secured R$ 7.5 million in a pre-seed funding round to scale its innovative business model. The company transforms electric delivery motorcycles into mobile platforms for advertising, data collection, and urban monitoring. This unique approach leverages existing urban infrastructure to create a new ecosystem for smart city solutions and media.

A Multifaceted Business Model

Guipa's core strategy involves equipping electric motorcycles with digital panels, cameras, and connected systems for multiple revenue streams. These vehicles serve as a dynamic out-of-home media inventory for geolocated advertising campaigns. This model allows brands to reach consumers in specific, high-traffic urban areas with targeted messaging.

The company's first major partnership is with Rappi Turbo, deploying 180 motorcycles for its top couriers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. This collaboration allows Guipa and Rappi to sell advertising on a revenue-share basis, targeting affluent neighborhoods. The model provides a powerful new channel for brands in sectors like beverages, streaming, and finance.

Beyond advertising, the company's fleet gathers valuable urban data through its integrated cameras and sensors. Guipa has already partnered with São Paulo's Public Security Secretariat to share vehicle plate recognition data, enhancing public safety. This data collection service represents a significant future monetization opportunity for the company.

Incentivizing Safer and Greener Deliveries

The model provides substantial benefits to partner delivery drivers, who gain access to electric motorcycles at a significantly reduced cost. This arrangement eliminates their expenses on fuel, insurance, and maintenance, boosting their net income considerably. The company's use of telematics also monitors driving behavior to encourage safer road practices.

Drivers can increase their annual earnings by up to R$ 24,000 by participating in the program. The system tracks metrics like speed, braking, and cornering to ensure compliance with safety guidelines. This financial incentive, combined with real-time monitoring, effectively promotes more prudent and responsible driving habits among couriers.

Strategic Backing and Future Ambitions

The pre-seed round was backed by prominent angel investors, including Carlos Fonseca of Galápagos Capital and João Dias of NEOOH. Dias has also joined the company as co-CEO, bringing significant industry expertise to the leadership team. This strategic support is crucial for navigating the competitive out-of-home media and technology landscape.

With its current fleet, Guipa projects revenues of R$ 20 million this year, aiming for R$ 60 million by 2027. The company is now planning a subsequent R$ 20 million seed round to expand its fleet and operations to other Brazilian cities. International expansion into Latin America and Miami is also part of its long-term vision.

Guipa's innovative fusion of media, data, and logistics is poised to redefine urban advertising and smart city services. By creating a symbiotic relationship that benefits advertisers, public entities, and couriers, the company has established a scalable and impactful business. With strong financial backing and a clear growth strategy, Guipa is well-positioned to become a key player in the evolving urban landscape.
