Sallve, a prominent Brazilian skincare and makeup brand, has announced its first-ever leadership transition since its founding in 2018. Founder Daniel Wjuniski is moving to the role of Executive Chairman, with former CFO Luís Coelho stepping up as the new Chief Executive Officer. This strategic move is designed to steer the company through its next phase of significant growth and operational complexity in the competitive cosmetics market.

A Strategic Leadership Transition

The change at the top is a deliberate move to align leadership strengths with the company's evolving needs as it scales. Wjuniski will now concentrate on long-term strategy, innovation, and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance internal operations. This allows him to focus on his entrepreneurial strengths, which were pivotal in establishing the brand's disruptive market presence.

In his new capacity as Executive Chairman, Wjuniski expressed that the company's increasing complexity requires a leader with strong operational discipline. He identified Coelho as the ideal candidate to manage day-to-day activities, teams, and supplier relationships effectively. This new leadership combination is expected to create a more positive and efficient dynamic for the company's future endeavors.

Charting a Course for Growth

As the new CEO, Luís Coelho aims to reinforce the foundations of Sallve's rapid expansion rather than reinventing its core strategy. His primary goal is to triple the brand's physical retail footprint, targeting an increase from 10,000 to 30,000 points of sale across Brazil. The company plans to maintain its impressive 50% growth trajectory over the next three years, supported by positive EBITDA and cash generation.

Coelho takes the helm of a company that has transformed significantly since he joined as CFO in 2021. Fueled by US$ 32 million in funding from investors like Monashees and Astella, Sallve evolved from a digital-native brand into an omnichannel powerhouse. The strategic acquisition of Contém1g in 2022 further broadened its portfolio into makeup, solidifying its market position.

Innovation and Future Horizons

Sallve's business model will continue to be a key pillar of its strategy, emphasizing an asset-light operational structure. The company focuses its expertise on creating innovative products based directly on consumer feedback and needs. It partners with specialized industrial suppliers for manufacturing, allowing the internal team to concentrate on product design and brand development.

Looking ahead, the new leadership duo is exploring several avenues for long-term growth, although these plans remain in early stages. Internationalization is on the radar, driven by interest from global distributors eager to carry Sallve's popular products. Furthermore, the company remains open to future mergers and acquisitions as a potential strategy to accelerate its expansion and market share.

This leadership restructuring marks a pivotal moment for Sallve, signaling a new chapter of disciplined execution and strategic expansion. The company is positioning itself to challenge industry giants like Natura and Boticário by combining Wjuniski's long-term vision with Coelho's operational expertise. This balanced approach aims to secure Sallve's place as a leading force in the Brazilian cosmetics industry for years to come.
