Barrell Lithium LLC, a portfolio subsidiary of Barrell Energy Inc., has closed an oversubscribed Series C financing round that was fully supported by its existing investor group. The company also confirmed that its strategic leasehold has surpassed 62,000 net mineral acres across core prospective areas in the Smackover Formation. The announcement positions the company to move toward commercial development in what it describes as a leading North American lithium brine fairway.

Strategic Leasing Momentum in the Smackover Trend

Barrell Lithium has assembled a leasehold extending across more than 62,000 net mineral acres in the Smackover Formation, with East Texas serving as the centerpiece of the campaign. The company has prioritized acreage with strong aquifer volume and reservoir deliverability to support future lithium extraction. According to Barrell Lithium, the East Texas region contains the highest lithium brine concentrations recorded in North America.

East Texas Brine Quality Drives the Fairway

Subsurface evaluations and industry testing show lithium brine concentrations in East Texas consistently ranging between 600 and 800 or more milligrams per liter. These grades are paired with highly permeable reservoir rock that is considered well suited for Direct Lithium Extraction, also known as DLE, deployment. Recent project financial disclosures from Smackover operators have highlighted what Barrell Lithium views as superior economics and significant resource value.

Funding and Investor Confidence

The oversubscribed Series C round was funded entirely by existing investors, signaling continued confidence in Barrell Lithium's geological model and execution capability. The company did not disclose the financial amount of the capital raise in its announcement. Kirk Barrell, President of Barrell Energy Inc., said the funding will enable aggressive expansion of the acreage position beyond the 62,000 net acre threshold.

Domestic Supply Chain Priorities

The company emphasized that the United States is in urgent need of locally sourced lithium resources to support energy security and domestic manufacturing. Barrell Lithium believes its East Texas footprint is strategically important as supply chains prioritize secure and high-grade critical minerals. The announcement aligns with broader efforts to reduce reliance on imported lithium and strengthen domestic production capacity.

Operator Partnership Timeline

Barrell Lithium expects to shift from land acquisition to the commercial development phase following the closing of the Series C round. The company plans to launch a formal process in the fourth quarter of 2026 to identify and select a qualified operator partner. That collaboration is intended to include further leasing, drilling, facility infrastructure, and commercial Direct Lithium Extraction operations.

Company Background and Capabilities

Barrell Lithium was formed in 2024 by Barrell Energy Inc. as a Texas-based energy company focused on lithium brine resources in the Smackover Formation across East Texas. Barrell Energy, founded in 1997 by Kirk Barrell, brings 41 years of geological, geophysical, and land acquisition expertise. Over the past 15 years, Barrell Energy and its portfolio companies have executed $477 million in transactions covering 890,000 acres.

Barrell Lithium's expanded leasehold and oversubscribed funding round reflect rising industry focus on domestic lithium supply chains in the United States. The company believes East Texas offers a rare combination of brine concentration and reservoir quality that can support large-scale commercial extraction. With a formal operator selection process scheduled for late 2026, Barrell Lithium is positioning itself to move from resource assembly toward development and production.
