ANote Music, a Luxembourg-based marketplace for music royalties, announced on 29 September 2026 the closing of a €2 million funding round led by Seventure Partners alongside ScaleFund. Existing investors and shareholders also participated in the round. The company plans to use the capital to expand catalog supply, grow its European user base, and advance platform and mobile application development.

A Marketplace Built for Music Royalties

Since launching in 2020, ANote Music has developed a full market infrastructure that includes a primary auction market, a live secondary order book, and an automated royalties engine. The platform gives individual and professional investors access to royalties from songs performed by artists including Beyoncé, Avicii, Justin Bieber, Drake, and Martin Garrix. It now hosts more than 100,000 songs across 36 listed catalogs, more than 52,000 user accounts, and over €28 million in cumulative transaction value.

Capital Deployment Priorities

The new funding will focus on three priorities. ANote Music intends to broaden the supply of income-producing catalogs by working with labels, publishers, artists, and songwriters. It will also increase marketing and user acquisition across Europe, reaching music fans, individual investors, and professional clients, while continuing research and development for its platform and mobile apps.

Founding Team and Industry Advisers

ANote Music was founded by Marzio F. Schena, Matteo Cernuschi, and Grégoire Mathonet, a team that pairs capital markets and technology experience built at institutions including SES, Crédit Suisse, and LuxTrust with deep music industry expertise. Its advisers include Mathew Knowles, the executive who managed Beyoncé and Destiny's Child, and George Howard, co-founder of TuneCore. These figures add significant operational and creative insight as the company expands.

Market Momentum for Music Royalties

ANote Music's latest funding round arrives as the wider market moves in its direction. Global music copyright reached a record US$47.2 billion in 2024, according to Will Page at Pivotal Economics. Goldman Sachs Research forecasts that the broader music market will grow from US$105 billion in 2024 to almost US$200 billion by 2035, while recent catalog sales by Queen and Bob Dylan have highlighted institutional demand.

Investor Commentary

CEO Marzio F. Schena said the company was built to close the gap between resilient royalty income and ordinary investors, with transparent valuations for rights holders and recurring income for buyers. David Manjarres of Seventure Partners emphasized that flawless infrastructure is needed to unlock a global asset class. Thomas Pav of ScaleFund noted music royalties remain resilient through economic downturns and praised ANote for making them accessible to first-time investors.

A Conservative Approach to Catalog Selection

ANote Music takes a deliberately conservative approach to catalog selection. Catalogs are typically valued on the lowest of the last 12, 24, or 36 months of annualized royalties, avoiding inflated sync-driven spikes and very young catalogs prone to sharp declines. The company also applies price bands and thin-trading alerts to its order book to help investors understand liquidity conditions.

Technology and Performance

Beyond marketplace operations, ANote Music has distributed more than €2.2 million in royalties to investors. The company is also evaluating a return to distributed ledger technology under the European Union's MiCA rules after previously dropping an Algorand layer due to cost and complexity. Its index returned 9.56% a year from August 2020 to April 2026, although the founders note royalty income can fall.

With fresh capital, ANote Music aims to deepen its catalog pipeline, broaden European investor participation, and strengthen the technology that underpins its royalty marketplace. The backing from Seventure Partners and ScaleFund signals confidence in music royalties as a resilient asset class. As the global music market continues to expand, ANote Music is positioning royalty ownership to become as accessible and familiar as an exchange-traded fund.
