Amber has secured a $78.5 million Series E funding round to accelerate expansion across Australia and international markets. The round was almost twice oversubscribed and led by 1GT, Morgan Stanley's climate technology investment fund. Existing investors ETF Partners, Innovation Victoria, and E.ON also participated strongly, signalling robust confidence in the company's energy automation platform.

Funding Details and Investor Support

The Series E round raised $78.5 million, reflecting strong demand from institutional and strategic investors. 1GT, the climate technology fund managed by Morgan Stanley, led the financing with substantial participation from ETF Partners, Innovation Victoria, and E.ON. Vikram Raju, Head of Climate Private Equity Investing at Morgan Stanley Investment Management and 1GT, said the firm is pleased to support Amber's next phase of development.

Amber's Position in Australia

Amber has established itself as Australia's largest residential battery automation provider. Its platform now orchestrates more than half of all automated home batteries in the country. This leadership was built in a market considered the world's most advanced for home battery adoption, giving Amber a strong foundation for global growth.

Expansion Across Europe

The new funding will allow Amber to intensify its expansion across European markets. Co-founder and co-CEO Chris Thompson noted that the company has built a winning energy automation platform in Australia and now aims to extend that leadership in Europe. He said the partnership with E.ON is already demonstrating results and will serve as a catalyst for additional regional partnerships.

Technology Platform and Customer Benefits

Amber provides customers with access to real-time wholesale electricity prices and automation tools for home batteries and electric vehicles. The system charges devices when cheap renewable energy is available and discharges them to earn money when prices spike. This approach helps households reduce energy costs while also supporting broader grid stability and renewable energy integration.

E.ON Partnership and Next Optimise

Amber's technology already underpins Next Optimise, E.ON Next's smart energy tariff and home battery and EV automation product. That offering launched in March 2026 and is now live for battery and solar households across the United Kingdom. The partnership demonstrates how Amber's platform can be deployed at scale with major European energy providers.

Next Generation and Vehicle-to-Grid

Amber is now releasing its next generation technology, including vehicle-to-grid functionality. Early customers are already using this capability to sell energy from their electric vehicle batteries back to the grid when demand is particularly high. This feature creates new revenue opportunities for households and expands the flexibility available to energy networks.

Industry Impact and Future Outlook

The investment arrives as energy systems around the world transition toward smarter and more flexible operating models. Major partners across Australia and Europe are seeking solutions that unlock more value for energy consumers and utilities alike. Amber's platform is positioned to help place households at the centre of this evolving energy transition.

The $78.5 million Series E round gives Amber the capital to scale its technology in Australia and expand across European markets. It will also support continued investment in products and infrastructure needed to put households at the centre of the energy transition. With strong investor backing and proven partnerships, Amber is well positioned to lead in distributed energy automation.
