IT service provider adesso has announced its acquisition of omni:us, a specialist in artificial intelligence for insurance claims processing. This strategic transaction combines adesso’s extensive insurance and software expertise with omni:us’s advanced AI technology. The move is set to enhance adesso's core insurance platform, the in|sure Ecosphere, by embedding automated, AI-supported claims management directly into its core.

A Strategic Combination of Expertise

The acquisition strengthens adesso’s insurance business with proprietary AI technology, an established product organization, and specialized domain expertise. Founded in 1997, adesso is a leading IT service provider in the German-speaking market with over 11,100 employees and reported revenues of €1.3 billion in 2024. This deal significantly increases the share of proprietary software within its insurance portfolio, expanding its offerings for existing clients.

For omni:us, a Berlin-based AI provider founded in 2015, the acquisition provides access to adesso’s vast market presence and deep capabilities in integration and scaling. The omni:us team will play a central role in the continued development and commercialization of the combined insurance AI portfolio. The company will continue to operate under its established brand name as part of the adesso Group.

Integrating AI into Core Insurance Processes

The core of the strategy involves progressively integrating omni:us technology into adesso’s in|sure Ecosphere, a modular platform for core insurance processes. This integration will transform AI from an isolated add-on into a native element of insurers' operational systems. The goal is to fully automate simple claims and provide an AI co-pilot for decision-making in more complex cases.

Andreas Nolte of adesso insurance solutions emphasized that AI must be deeply embedded into the systems insurers use to run their business. Thomas Hauschild, CEO of omni:us, added that their technology has proven its reliability under real financial and regulatory conditions. This partnership aims to make that proven capability accessible to a much broader insurance market.

Leading insurers like Allianz and UNIQA already utilize omni:us technology, reporting efficiency gains of up to 35 percent. The AI models have been trained on millions of claims cases and over 80 million insurance documents, enabling robust performance. The joint product strategy will focus on creating ready-to-deploy offerings and allowing clients to operate their own AI agents within a controlled environment.

Future Outlook and Customer Continuity

Both companies have assured existing customers of a seamless transition and continued support. omni:us clients will retain their current product environments while gaining access to adesso’s broader implementation and scaling capabilities. Conversely, adesso’s customers will benefit from the progressive integration of advanced AI technology for claims processing into the existing portfolio.

The combined product strategy will remain strictly aligned with the requirements of regulated insurance processes. Key principles such as explainability, human oversight, operational reliability, data protection, and full traceability will be maintained as fixed guardrails. This commitment ensures that the AI solutions are not only powerful but also compliant and trustworthy for the industry.

This acquisition marks a significant step toward an AI-centric future for the insurance industry, moving beyond standalone applications to deeply integrated intelligence. By combining adesso’s market leadership and platform strength with omni:us’s specialized AI prowess, the partnership is poised to deliver enhanced efficiency and innovation. The collaboration promises to accelerate the adoption of reliable and secure AI solutions within core insurance operations.
