Copenhagen-based aerospace startup Acodyne has successfully secured €2.5 million in a pre-seed funding round to advance the development of its autonomous heavy-lift cargo aircraft. The investment was co-led by Swedish defence venture capital firm Gungnir Capital and Danish fund PSV Hafnium, with notable participation from EIFO, SAP9 Group, and GreenUP IV Invest. This capital injection will fuel the creation of a new generation of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles designed for critical logistics missions.


Innovating Aerial Logistics Technology

Acodyne is developing a unique eVTOL platform that merges the flexibility of vertical take-off with the velocity of fixed-wing jet flight. The aircraft leverages proprietary ducted-fan propulsion and an advanced AI-driven autonomy stack to deliver goods efficiently in challenging environments. This technology is specifically engineered for defence, offshore, and remote logistics where speed and reliability are paramount.

The company's aircraft are designed for significant performance, with payload capacities ranging from 100 to 500 kilograms. Boasting a cruise speed of 450 km/h and a range of up to 500 km, which can be extended to 1,000 km in hybrid configurations, the platform offers a substantial upgrade over existing solutions. Its modular design also allows for easy transport within a standard shipping container, enabling rapid deployment.

Max Villman of Gungnir Capital noted the platform's ability to offer a crewless, high-speed alternative to manned helicopters, addressing a key need for NATO. Similarly, Marianne Hyltoft of PSV Hafnium cited the company's impressive engineering progress and third-party validation as key reasons for their continued support.

Development Roadmap and Future Ambitions

The new funding will enable Acodyne to accelerate the development of its first prototype, the E100, with initial flight tests scheduled before the end of 2026. This phase is crucial for transitioning the aircraft from a validated concept to a flight-tested platform ready for the next stage of commercialization. The investment provides sufficient runway to build and test multiple prototypes to ensure operational readiness.
