3IF Ventures has announced its debut investment through the Inclusive Insurance Investment Fund, backing embedded insurance platform Turaco. The transaction represents the first capital deployment from the Africa-focused venture capital firm following its initial fund close earlier this year. Turaco operates across six African markets and has recently expanded into Pakistan, reaching more than eight million people with affordable insurance products.

A Debut Investment in Embedded Insurance

Turaco delivers low-cost medical and life insurance through embedded partnerships with high-volume distribution platforms. Its technology integrates directly into digital workflows operated by partners such as Safaricom, M-KOPA, and ASA International. This model allows consumers and small businesses to purchase and manage coverage without leaving the platforms they already use.

The company has built its model around three core strengths: embedded distribution, proprietary technology, and a focus on affordable microinsurance. By using these capabilities, Turaco addresses what its backers describe as the triple challenge of access, affordability, and awareness. The platform now reaches underserved households across Africa and Asia through partnerships that generate significant scale.

Fund Architecture and Strategic Mandate

3IF Ventures is a specialized venture capital manager targeting technology-enabled insurance startups from pre-seed to Series B stages. The firm reached a $12 million first close for the Inclusive Insurance Investment Fund in June 2026, supported by anchor investors FSD Africa Investments and ZEP-RE. It is now working toward a final target of $30 million to scale insurtech infrastructure across the continent.

The fund’s anchor investors include FSD Africa Investments and ZEP-RE, also known as PTA Reinsurance Company, both of which bring long-standing regional expertise. Their backing provides institutional credibility, regulatory insight, and reinsurance capacity to the investment vehicle. The fund aims to support early-stage and growth-stage companies that use technology to expand insurance access in underserved markets across the continent.

Leadership Perspectives and Growth Outlook

Ted Pantone, Chief Executive Officer of Turaco, welcomed the partnership and highlighted the value of working with experienced reinsurance experts. He described Turaco as one of Africa's leading insurance innovators and said the 3IF Ventures team would strengthen the company's corner. The firm's involvement is expected to support the next phase of expansion across emerging markets.

Anthony Chaillet, General Partner at 3IF Ventures, said Turaco has built a strong model with clear traction and a defined expansion strategy. He expressed enthusiasm for working alongside Ted and the team on the next phase of growth. The investor sees the platform's embedded distribution and proprietary technology as foundations for further scale.

Strategic Significance for African Insurtech

The investment highlights growing investor confidence in embedded insurance as a channel for closing protection gaps. Turaco's reach of more than eight million people signals demand for affordable coverage in low-income segments. By backing Turaco as its first transaction, 3IF Ventures positions itself at the center of Africa's evolving insurtech ecosystem.

3IF Ventures' debut investment in Turaco marks a meaningful step for inclusive insurance in emerging markets. The partnership combines dedicated venture capital with a proven embedded insurance platform that is already serving millions of people. As the fund progresses toward its final close, this transaction establishes a clear template for future deployments across Africa and beyond.
