Insurtech firm 180 Seguros has announced a major strategic reorganization centered on artificial intelligence, a move prompted by its remarkable 919% growth in 2025, which saw it reach R$273.9 million in issued premiums. This initiative establishes a dedicated AI division and involves key leadership changes to steer its next phase of innovation. Co-founder Franco Lamping will transition from CTO to the newly created role of Chief AI Officer, while Bleise Cruz is promoted to Chief Technology Officer.
A Foundation for Innovation
This strategic pivot is built upon a robust technological foundation meticulously developed over the past five years. The company engineered its own proprietary insurance platform, designed from its inception to be secure, scalable, and fundamentally data-centric. This architectural foresight enabled the seamless integration of advanced AI solutions, which directly supported the company's tenfold growth recorded in the last year.
Strategic Leadership for an AI-First Future
In his new capacity as Chief AI Officer, Franco Lamping will spearhead the company-wide AI strategy, embedding artificial intelligence into all operational facets from product design to partner integration. He stated that this move formalizes AI as the central engine for the entire business, accelerating the platform's evolution. The ultimate goal is to expand upon their solid foundation and transition the company toward a fully AI-first operational model.
Assuming the role of CTO, Bleise Cruz will now lead engineering, technological architecture, and infrastructure evolution with a sharp focus on operational robustness. With nearly a decade of experience scaling Nubank's architecture and four years at 180 Seguros, he brings deep expertise to the position. Cruz affirmed that his priority is ensuring the company's technical base can absorb increasing transaction volumes with sustained quality, security, and efficiency.
Pioneering AI Applications in Insurance
The company is already a regional pioneer in applying AI, having launched its B2B2AI vertical in 2025 to formalize these efforts. This included the landmark introduction of Latin America's first Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server for the insurance sector. This innovative technology allows partners' AI agents to connect directly to 180 Seguros' infrastructure to execute complete, contextualized insurance journeys autonomously.
This commitment to AI has also yielded significant improvements in customer service automation, a critical area during its rapid expansion. By applying AI models to qualify inquiries and reduce manual processes, the company has drastically improved response times for policyholders. Consequently, 180 Seguros maintained an impressive customer satisfaction (CSAT) score above 90% despite the explosive growth in its policy base.
This strategic realignment solidifies 180 Seguros' position as a technology-driven leader within the competitive insurtech landscape. The dedicated AI division and new executive structure are designed to enhance its capacity to serve complex, high-volume enterprise partners demanding deep integrations. This forward-looking move positions the company to capitalize on its recent momentum and power its next cycle of industry-defining expansion and innovation.
