Applications are currently open for the Venture Catalyst program, a two-month initiative offered by YSpace at York University in partnership with the Black Entrepreneurship Alliance (BEA). The program is designed for early-stage founders who are shaping an initial concept, validating their business idea, or refining a minimum viable product (MVP). It supports technology-based ventures across industries, with specialized support also available for Black-led and mobility-focused businesses.


Program Structure and Objectives

Duration: The program runs for two months, with the current cohort’s programming beginning on October 21, 2026, and concluding with Demo Day on December 10, 2026.
Core Focus: Participants will stress-test their business models, sharpen their go-to-market strategies, strengthen early traction, and build a solid foundation for their ventures.
Methodology: The program combines expert mentorship, interactive workshops, peer-to-peer sessions, office hours with subject-matter experts, and dedicated mentor support.
Outcomes: Participants are expected to leave the program with greater clarity and confidence, a stronger business strategy, and practical tools to validate their market, develop their venture, and prepare for long-term growth.

Community: Upon completion of the two-month cohort, select companies may have the opportunity to join the YSpace Virtual Membership Program for continued support and growth.

Eligibility Criteria

Founder Stage: Applicants should be early-stage founders who are in the ideation or early validation phase and are working to determine the feasibility and market potential of their concepts.
Venture Type: Applicants should be developing innovative technology-based concepts. The program is sector-agnostic and supports technology ventures across industries.
Founder Profile: Ideal applicants are driven, coachable, collaborative, and demonstrate a strong growth mindset.
Development Goals: Suitable ventures are typically working toward validating their market and launching an MVP within the coming months.
Participation: Founders should be prepared to commit sufficient time to workshops, mentorship sessions, peer activities, and venture development throughout the program.
