Free 4-month AI accelerator for growth startups ready to scale from Cologne.

Organizer: STARTPLATZ
Deadline: September 27, 2026 (in a month)
Category: Accelerator
Global

The STARTPLATZ AI Accelerator NRW is a program designed to help growth-stage startups scale their operations by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence. The upcoming third batch is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with the application period concluding on September 27. This initiative is positioned as one of six hubs funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and is supported by the largest startup community in the region.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Stage: Growth startups with a validated business model and initial customer traction.
• Product: A developed, scalable product with clear growth potential.
• Objective: A desire to integrate and utilize AI as a primary lever for business growth.
• Team: A dedicated team of 2 to 10 people ready to enter a scaling phase.
• Note for Early-Stage Startups: The Open Accelerator is recommended as a suitable entry point for startups still in the idea phase.

Program Structure and Curriculum

The four-month program is structured into three distinct phases to guide startups toward scaling their operations with a focus on AI integration.
• Phase 1 - Foundation: Activities include a Technology Readiness Check-up, a KPI Definition & Growth Unlock Workshop, a 'Mentor Madness' matching event, a kick-off event with the startup community, and the commencement of the weekly Founder Session.
• Phase 2 - Implementation: This phase features specialized workshops on growth topics, a micro-residency with international AI experts, expert sessions and fireside chats with operators and VCs, hands-on AI integration support, and comprehensive fundraising and pitch training.
• Phase 3 - Scale: The final phase includes VC office hours with top investors, intensive Demo Day preparation and pitch refinement, international expansion support, and culminates in a Demo Day presentation.

Core Program Elements

The program's core is built around a consistent rhythm of feedback and expert engagement rather than a traditional course structure.
• Weekly Founder Session: A mandatory weekly meeting for all founding teams to discuss their North Star Metric, review progress, and address current blockers. This session facilitates accountability, peer feedback, and direct access to the program team and mentors.
• Expert Sessions & Fireside Chats: A curated series of talks with experienced practitioners and investors. Past sessions have included topics such as building a paid AI product with Sushel Bijganath of Octonomy, understanding VC deal flow with Markus Merz of Capnamic, creating effective B2B sales demos with Max from Presales Rocks, scaling AI-driven performance marketing with Janis from ordio, and deck optimization with Dennis Fink of xLifeSciences. The lineup is customized for each batch based on the participating teams' needs.

Workshop Program

The accelerator offers specialized workshops tailored to the specific needs of the participating teams. The curriculum is subject to change but typically covers the following areas:
• AI & Technology: AI Bootcamp & Prompting, AI-First Mindset, AI Agents & Automations, Technology Readiness Check, and Security Essentials.

• Finance & Pitch: Financial Planning & Models, Fundraising Masterclass, Term Sheets & Cap Table, Pitch Training & Demo Day, and Leadership & Culture.
