L’Oréal Groupe, in partnership with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), has introduced “L’AcceleratOR,” its flagship sustainable innovation program. This initiative is designed to identify, support, and scale pioneering solutions that address critical sustainability challenges within the beauty industry. The program leverages CISL's extensive network and expertise to facilitate pilot projects and integrate breakthrough technologies into the L'Oréal ecosystem, furthering the company's commitment to a sustainable transformation.
Program Overview
• Partnership: A collaboration between L’Oréal Groupe and the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)’s Canopy innovation experts.
• Objective: To scout, identify, pilot, and scale breakthrough technologies that address key sustainability solution gaps within the industry.
• Support Structure: Selected applicants will participate in an up to 12-month cohort-based program, receiving support from CISL’s network of over 40,000 individuals and its expertise in sustainable business development.
• Outcome: The program facilitates pilot projects and the scaling of innovative solutions within the L'Oréal ecosystem.
Eligibility and Focus Areas
• Eligible Applicants: The program seeks applications from bold startups, SMEs, and established companies with innovative solutions from around the world.
• Technology Readiness Level (TRL): Innovations must be deployment-ready, ideally at TRL 7–9. Solutions at TRL 6 may be considered if they demonstrate significant potential.
• Sustainability Challenges: Solutions should address one of the following areas (note: challenges may evolve and do not constitute a binding commitment):
- Low carbon, climate-smart technologies
- Water resilience solutions
- Nature-based solutions
- Alternative ingredients and materials
- Eliminating fossil plastic use & plastic waste
- Circularity and resource management
- Sustainable & inclusive business models
Selection Process and Timeline
• Applications Open: 27 March 2026, 08:00 GMT
• Applications Close: 6 May 2026, 08:00 GMT
• Interview Phase: May–June 2026
• Final Cohort Selection Announcement: September 2026. Applicants who have not been contacted by this date should consider their application unsuccessful.
• Tailored Acceleration and Mentoring: September 2026 – November 2026. Cohort sessions will take place mid-day GMT.
• Tailored Mentoring: September 2026 – February 2027
• Pilot Execution (if applicable): Starts from December 2026, with an expected duration of 6–9 months.

Application Information
• Estimated Time to Complete: 1.5–2 hours. A full set of application questions is available for download to help with preparation.
• Language: Applications must be completed and submitted in English.
• Submission Process: Upon applying, you will receive a unique application code for anonymization during review. Only the primary user who created the application can submit the final form.
• Eligibility: The L’AcceleratOR program supports businesses only. NGOs and charities are not eligible to apply.
• Deadline Policy: Late applications cannot be accepted. Any technical issues should be reported via email in advance of the closing date.
Data Privacy and Contact
• CISL Data Usage: The University of Cambridge will store personal information to manage your application and, with consent, provide updates on CISL news, programs, and events. Data is not shared with third parties outside the University and L’Oréal without explicit permission.
• L’Oréal Data Usage: By submitting the form, applicants agree that personal data may be used by L’Oréal SA to evaluate and process the application. This data is kept for 5 years and is accessed by relevant L’Oréal employees and sub-contractors like CISL on a need-to-know basis.
