Applications for the Impact Grant Fund (IGF) 2026 opened on September 1, 2026, providing grant funding and business growth support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tanzania. What the IGF Offers

Selected MSMEs can receive non-repayable grant funding of up to TZS 30 million, alongside business development and growth support designed to strengthen their long-term sustainability and investment readiness. The support is intended to help businesses:

• Expand their operations
• Improve financial and management systems
• Strengthen innovation and productivity
• Create employment opportunities
• Improve readiness to access commercial finance
• Build stronger overall business capacity

Fund Objectives

The IGF was established to address key barriers that prevent MSMEs from accessing appropriate finance and achieving sustainable growth. These challenges include:

• Limited access to suitable credit and financial products
• Lack of sufficient collateral
• Weak financial records and management systems
• High perceived lending risks among financial institutions
• Limited access to financial services tailored to MSME needs
• Gaps in business capacity and investment readiness

Application Guidance

• Who Should Apply: Eligible MSMEs operating in the targeted regions of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar may apply. Women- and youth-led enterprises with strong growth potential are particularly encouraged to participate.

• Business Stage: The fund primarily targets businesses at startup and early-growth stages, corresponding most closely to Pre-seed and Seed-stage enterprises.

• Priority Sectors: Eligible businesses may operate in areas including Agriculture & Food, Energy & Environment, and Software & IT, with particular relevance to climate-smart agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, renewable energy, circular economy solutions, waste management, biodiversity, and digital solutions.

• How to Apply: Applications for the first IGF 2026 cycle opened on September 1, 2026. FSDT has indicated that each application cycle remains open for two weeks, making September 15, 2026 the best-supported closing date for the first cycle. No official closing time has been published.
