In response to the evolving global education landscape, Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) is launching an initiative to enhance student mastery of foundational competencies, as measured by international benchmarks like PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS. Recognizing the limitations of traditional instructional methods in a digital age, the Ministry is calling for innovators to develop a fully immersive, game-based learning platform. This platform is envisioned to deliver deep student engagement, align with the national curriculum, and maintain cultural relevance, addressing the current gap for such a comprehensive edutainment solution.


Challenge Objective

• Create an advanced immersive learning platform that situates students within rich, interactive game environments where learning occurs through exploration and play.
• The solution should integrate engaging narratives, collaborative gameplay, adaptive learning mechanics, and user-friendly tools for educators.
• The primary goals are to improve student motivation, comprehension, and long-term retention of knowledge.
• The initiative aims to transcend surface-level gamification to deliver authentic edutainment, empowering students to actively learn, apply knowledge, and master foundational skills in an intuitive and culturally resonant manner.

Solution Requirements

• Develop an integrated, real-time edutainment platform that unifies foundational learning with high-fidelity gameplay, leveraging existing pedagogical standards.
• The solution should provide a centralized environment for tracking educational progress, ideally without requiring additional hardware installations, though innovative and scalable technology proposals will be considered.
• It must incorporate advanced analytics, adaptive AI, and intuitive visual dashboards to offer actionable insights into student mastery, engagement levels, and cross-competency performance.
• The platform should be designed to enhance educational efficiency, support resource planning, and improve the overall student journey through a seamless, data-driven, and scalable solution.

Opportunities and Incentives

• Funding: Receive up to USD 100,000 in cash contributions from QRDI to support solution development, contingent on the project proposal.
• Collaboration: Work directly with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education on a national education challenge.
• Piloting and Feedback: Gain access to piloting opportunities in select schools, subject-matter experts for consultation, and direct feedback from teachers and students in real classroom environments.
• Data Access: Utilize de-identified student performance data to refine and improve personalization algorithms.
• Scaling Opportunities: Explore potential for scaling the solution across Qatar and the broader MENA education ecosystem.

Program Timeline

• Scouting Phase (January 26th - March 23rd, 2026): Startups and SMEs (TRL 6+) can register, complete the participation form, and submit a proposal deck. A detailed webinar will be held on February 16th at 3:00 PM (UTC+03).
• Shortlisting Phase (Late March - April 2026): Proposals will be reviewed by MoEHE and QRDI based on technical viability (55%), implementation plan (20%), and team strength (25%).
• Evaluation Phase (May - June 2026): Shortlisted innovators will engage in one-on-one sessions with MoEHE teams to discuss their solutions in detail.
• Awarding (July - August 2026): The final awarded innovators will be officially announced on the platform.
