ESA BIC Sud France, established in 2013, is the inaugural French incubator of the European Space Agency (ESA). Its mission is to foster innovative startups within the space sector, focusing on those that either leverage space technologies or develop space-derived applications for diverse industries such as health, agriculture, security, and mobility. The program is coordinated by the Aerospace Valley competitiveness cluster, in collaboration with CNES and the SAFE cluster, and unites seven regional incubators to provide localized support for emerging companies.


Program Offerings

Participants in the ESA BIC Sud France program receive comprehensive support for a duration of 6 to 24 months. The benefits include:
• Support: Access to technical guidance from CNES, ESA, and their partners, along with business mentoring from member incubators.
• Financing: A €25k grant, advisory services on public and private financing options, and access to a network of investors.
• Content and Networking: Invitations to workshops and events, and information on opportunities to connect with local, national, European, and international communities and ecosystems.
• Visibility: Opportunities to present solutions at major events and gain exposure through social media channels.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• The company must have been created less than 5 years ago.
• Applicants must demonstrate a clear connection to the space industry.
• The company must be eligible for a public subsidy of at least €25k (from BPI or a regional grant).
• The company must be located within the territory of ESA BIC Sud France and be supported by a partner incubator.

Application Process

The application procedure involves several key steps:
• Initial Contact: Prospective applicants are encouraged to first contact a partner incubator or the ESA BIC Manager to discuss their project and confirm eligibility.
• Application Submission: A complete application file, detailing the project, its link to the space sector, and a development plan, must be submitted to esa-bic-sud-france@aerospace-valley.com before the specified deadline.
• Evaluation: Applications are reviewed by a selection committee, which convenes quarterly to select the startups that will be invited to join the program.
