The AIM Startup Competition, part of the Accelerating Investment in Montenegro programme, is currently accepting applications from both early-stage and growth-stage startups. This initiative offers a platform for ventures seeking to scale and connect with Montenegro’s developing investment landscape, providing a structured pathway from application to high-visibility exposure on an international stage.
Program Details

• Event Dates: 19–21 October 2026
• Location: Portonovi, Montenegro
• Finalist Activity: Finalists will present their startups on the main stage during the conference.
• Award: The winning startup will be presented with an award by the Prime Minister of Montenegro in the presence of European Union representatives and international investors.
Eligibility Criteria
• Geographic Scope: Open to founder-led startups from around the world.
• Target Sectors: Agribusiness, energy, ICT, transport, and logistics. Startups from adjacent sectors are also encouraged to apply.
• Company Age: Generally less than five years old.
• Total Funding: Must have raised less than EUR 5 million in total funding.
• Founder Involvement: Founders are required to be actively involved in the day-to-day management of the business.
• Growth Ambition: Applicants must demonstrate a clear ambition for growth and regional or international expansion.
Competition Tracks
• Seed Track: Designed for pre-funding to early-traction ventures that have raised little or no capital.
• Growth Track: Intended for ventures with demonstrated traction that have raised more than EUR 500,000 and up to EUR 5 million.
Evaluation Criteria
• Seed Track Assessment: Applications will be evaluated based on innovation, the strength of the team, and the problem–solution fit.
• Growth Track Assessment: Evaluation will focus on demonstrated traction, business viability, and scalability.
