The AI for Education Venture Builder & Incubation Program is an eight-month initiative designed to support pre-formed teams from the ideation stage through the development and launch of market-ready, impactful EdTech ventures. The program aims to identify, develop, and test effective AI-powered solutions for African classrooms, while providing the most promising teams with funding and tailored support to scale their ventures. Its broader goal is to foster practical, affordable, and scalable solutions that address the needs of learners, teachers, and education systems across Southern Africa.
Program Focus Areas
• Product development and early-stage product validation through user testing.
• Strengthening data-driven education innovation through Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems and specialist support.
• Improving financial viability and business sustainability with guidance from experienced specialists.
Program Benefits
• Specialised Support: Hands-on guidance from AI engineers, learning scientists, business strategists, and education-sector specialists to help teams build, test, and refine their solutions.

• Go-to-Market & Financial Strategy: Teams progressing to the second phase receive support in developing go-to-market strategies and strengthening the financial sustainability of their ventures.
• Equity-Free Seed Funding: The top five ventures selected to progress into the incubation phase receive equity-free seed funding to support further development and post-program growth.
Eligibility Criteria
• Teams must apply as a complete team of at least two (2) members, with a combination of relevant skills such as product building, domain expertise, and commercial or operational experience.
• Team members must be based in eligible Southern African countries.
• Each team member should have approximately 2–3 years of relevant professional or lived experience.
• Applicants must be at the ideation stage and have a concept aligned with one of the program’s five thematic areas.
