The RMIT Activator FounderHUB Program is designed as an entry-point incubator for individuals looking to transform early-stage concepts or side projects into viable business ventures. Operating as a free initiative, the program provides a low-risk environment for aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their ideas beyond initial inspiration and into structured startup foundations. It serves as a foundational step within the broader RMIT innovation ecosystem, supporting founders at the earliest stage of their journey.
Program Overview and Structure
The program is offered at no cost to participants, removing financial barriers for early-stage innovation.
Workshops are scheduled after standard business hours to accommodate participants with existing work or study commitments.
The curriculum is delivered through a hybrid model, combining in-person sessions at the RMIT City Campus with interactive online workshops.
Participants gain access to a dedicated community of like-minded founders, fostering peer support and collaboration.
The initiative is specifically tailored for “Idea & Concept” stage ventures, providing practical tools, frameworks, and entrepreneurial mindsets required to validate ideas and build early business models.
Intellectual Property and Support
RMIT Activator does not take any equity or ownership stake in the intellectual property (IP) developed during the program.
All knowledge, mentorship, and resources are provided as part of RMIT University’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship within its community.
Staff members or researchers seeking to commercialise university research are encouraged to engage with the IP & Commercialisation office for specialised guidance.
FounderHUB also serves as a pathway into more advanced programs within the Activator ecosystem, including LaunchHUB, where eligible teams may access up to $22,000 in equity-free seed funding.
Eligibility and Affiliation Requirements
The program is open to both solo founders and established teams.
At least one co-founder must have a formal affiliation with RMIT University (current student, staff member, researcher, or alumni).
Applicants must have a specific startup or business idea to participate.
The program welcomes early-stage ventures, university-led initiatives, and personal side projects that are ready for structured validation and development.
