Zepo Intelligence has secured $15 million in seed funding to protect workspaces from the rapidly evolving threat of AI-powered social engineering attacks. These attacks, including deepfakes, fake voice calls, deceptive messages, and highly personalized phishing, have surged 1,200% since the arrival of ChatGPT, causing over $1 trillion in losses in 2024, according to the World Economic Forum. The Spanish startup aims to redefine human-centric cybersecurity by combining AI-driven threat detection with employee readiness training.

Rising Risks in the Age of Generative AI

Traditional cybersecurity methods, such as isolated training modules and email filters, are increasingly inadequate against AI-fueled attacks. Generative AI has accelerated both the sophistication and volume of social engineering, making conventional protections insufficient. As attackers exploit multi-vector approaches, organizations face mounting pressure to implement more holistic and proactive security strategies.

Zepo’s Human-Centric Security Platform

Zepo Intelligence addresses this challenge through a workspace security platform that integrates real-time threat detection with human risk management. The platform simulates AI-driven social engineering attacks across channels, enabling organizations to identify vulnerabilities in employee behavior. Through behavior-based training and actionable metrics, teams gain practical readiness for real-world threats, reducing the likelihood of costly breaches or credential leaks.

Advanced Features and Agentic AI

Unlike competitors, Zepo combines live detection with agentic AI, creating a proactive security layer across emails, messaging apps, and calls. The system not only simulates attacks but also delivers personalized training, continuous monitoring, and real-time alerts, providing a unified defense against emerging threats. “Just before a message turns into a transfer, a credential leak, or a breach, the platform intervenes,” explains Antonio Muñoz, CEO and co-founder.

Funding and Expansion Plans

The $15 million seed round was led by Kibo Ventures, eCAPITAL, and TIN Capital, with the investment earmarked for global expansion and talent acquisition. Zepo plans to hire experts in data engineering and AI to enhance its platform and support its rapid growth. With fivefold year-over-year revenue growth and adoption by major enterprises, the company is targeting expansion in both Europe and the United States over the next 18 months.

Leadership Perspective

Co-founders Antonio Muñoz and Enrique Holgado, both serial entrepreneurs, emphasize that AI has transformed social engineering into one of society’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges. Holgado, CPTO, highlights that AI sits at the core of Zepo’s platform, enabling engineers to develop advanced technologies at the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The company’s approach has earned recognition from accelerators run by Google, NVIDIA, Amazon, and CrowdStrike.

Industry Validation and Market Need

Investors see Zepo’s solution as essential for enterprises confronting increasingly sophisticated attacks. Javier Torremocha, co-founder and Managing Partner at Kibo Ventures, stated that the platform’s combination of simplicity, effectiveness, and enterprise-grade support makes it particularly appealing to top-tier organizations. As AI-driven attacks grow in frequency and complexity, tools like Zepo’s are becoming critical to safeguarding digital workspaces.

Zepo Intelligence is positioning itself as a pioneer in proactive, human-centric cybersecurity, blending AI innovation with behavioral training to shield employees from evolving threats. By scaling its platform globally and expanding its engineering team, the company aims to set a new standard for workspace security. As the digital threat landscape intensifies, Zepo’s integrated approach provides organizations with the tools to anticipate, detect, and neutralize attacks before they cause significant damage.
