Swedish digital healthcare provider Yazen has secured €50 million in an investment partnership led by European growth investor Verdane, with participation from existing investor Evli Growth Partners (EGP). Announced on October 8, 2026, the funding will support the company's expansion across Europe and strengthen its position in medically supervised obesity treatment. The investment reflects growing interest in digital healthcare platforms that combine pharmaceutical treatments with ongoing clinical support.

Funding to Support European Expansion

Yazen plans to use the capital to scale its integrated obesity care model and expand its presence across European healthcare markets. The company currently operates in eight countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. Its expansion strategy focuses on making long-term medical weight management more accessible through digital consultations and multidisciplinary healthcare services.

The company reports having supported more than 70,000 patients since its establishment, with over 50,000 currently receiving treatment through its platform. According to Yazen, patients using its services have collectively lost more than 880 tonnes of weight. Its workforce comprises approximately 290 employees, including 210 clinical professionals and 115 licensed doctors, reflecting the medical infrastructure supporting its international operations.

An Integrated Approach to Obesity Treatment

Yazen specializes in treating obesity as a chronic medical condition requiring sustained clinical intervention rather than short-term weight management solutions. Its treatment model combines modern weight-loss medications with continuous digital healthcare delivered by doctors, dietitians, psychologists, physiotherapists, and health coaches. Through this approach, the company aims to address the medical, behavioral, and psychological factors influencing long-term treatment outcomes.

Treatment continuity remains a significant challenge in obesity care, particularly as patients manage medication, lifestyle adjustments, and ongoing medical supervision. Yazen cites international data suggesting that approximately 20% to 50% of patients discontinue treatment within their first year. The company believes its multidisciplinary approach can help improve treatment adherence by providing accessible professional guidance throughout the patient journey.

Clinical Outcomes and Patient Retention

According to research published by Yazen in 2025, approximately 70% of patients receiving care through its model remained in treatment after 12 months. The company presents this retention figure as evidence supporting the value of combining medication with continuous clinical engagement. However, differences in patient populations and treatment settings mean comparisons with broader discontinuation estimates require careful interpretation.

Yazen CEO Fredrik Meurling emphasized that obesity should be addressed as a progressive medical condition rather than attributed to individual behavior or willpower. He said the partnership with Verdane provides a stronger financial foundation for developing a European healthcare platform capable of serving substantially more patients. The company also expects its expansion to contribute to broader efforts to improve obesity care and manage associated healthcare challenges.

Verdane Backs Long-Term Healthcare Growth

Verdane brings experience investing in digitally enabled healthcare businesses, including Medadom, Evondos, Smartbox, and Eterno. The investment firm identified Yazen's clinical model, patient engagement, and international growth potential as important factors supporting its decision. Cecilia Nytorp, Principal at Verdane, highlighted the company's combination of medical expertise, accessibility, and scalable digital infrastructure.

Existing investor Evli Growth Partners is also participating in the financing, reinforcing its continued support for Yazen's expansion strategy. Mikael Hed, Yazen's chairman and an EGP Growth Partner, highlighted the company's progress since the investor first backed it two years earlier. He also indicated that the new financing could support expansion into additional European markets and broader cardiometabolic healthcare services.

Yazen's €50 million investment partnership represents a significant step in its efforts to expand digitally delivered obesity treatment throughout Europe. With Verdane joining Evli Growth Partners as a major financial backer, the company intends to strengthen its healthcare platform while maintaining its emphasis on continuous medical supervision. Its next phase of growth will depend on successfully scaling operations across different healthcare markets while sustaining patient engagement and clinical standards.
