Fashion technology platform Whering has closed a $7 million seed funding round backed by eBay Ventures and the Google AI Futures Fund. The investment coincides with the announcement that its AI-powered wardrobe app has surpassed 10 million users worldwide. The capital will be used to accelerate AI features, deepen resale integrations, and further the company's mission to make fashion consumption more intentional.

Building a Digital Wardrobe

Founded in 2021, Whering allows users to create a complete digital twin of their clothing collection by simply photographing each garment they own. The platform then automatically organizes items, tracks wear patterns, and generates hyper-personalized outfit suggestions based on occasion, mood, and weather conditions. This digitalization transforms a chaotic closet into actionable insights, helping users rediscover forgotten pieces and make smarter, less wasteful purchasing choices.

Upgrading AI Capabilities

The fresh injection of capital will be channeled directly into upgrading the app's core artificial intelligence engine. Planned enhancements include faster image processing, gallery scanning technology that can extract individual garments from a single photo, and a virtual try-on feature that lets users see outfits on their own digital avatar. These tools aim to lower the friction of digitizing a wardrobe while delivering ever more precise and context-aware styling advice.

Shifting Consumption Patterns

Internal user data shared by the company points to a meaningful behavioral shift away from impulse-driven fast fashion. Whering reports that 84 percent of its users now wear their existing clothes more frequently since joining the platform. Moreover, nearly 70 percent say they have reduced fast fashion purchases, and more than a third save between £100 and £300 annually by rediscovering their own closets.

Resale Partnerships Take Center Stage

The involvement of eBay Ventures signals a strategic push to embed resale directly into the user experience. Alexis Hoopes, Vice President and Global Head of Fashion at eBay, stated that the industry's traditional buy-use-dispose model is overdue for disruption and that Whering's digitized wardrobes make it a strong catalyst. This partnership will explore how resale can become a seamless, integrated part of daily outfit planning.

Industry-Wide Momentum

Whering's raise reflects a broader trend as fashion technology platforms increasingly explore AI-driven personalization and circular commerce solutions. Retailers and apps are moving beyond the point of sale to engage consumers through ongoing wardrobe management and embedded resale channels. By merging these capabilities, Whering is positioning itself at the forefront of a shift that could redefine how the industry builds lasting customer relationships.

The Founder's Long-Term Vision

Founder and CEO Bianca Rangecroft launched Whering to answer the universal daily question of what to wear, but the platform's ambition has grown significantly. She noted that the company now commands a unique dataset that reveals not just purchase history but actual wear behavior and emotional response to clothing. This intelligence will power proactive assistance at every clothing interaction, from buying and selling to everyday styling and care.

With $7 million in fresh funding and a loyal community of 10 million users, Whering is poised to reshape the relationship between consumers and their wardrobes. By uniting artificial intelligence with a circular economy ethos, the platform encourages a more sustainable and financially savvy approach to fashion. As it deepens its technology and strategic partnerships, Whering could set a new standard for how people interact with their clothes every day.
