South Korean video intelligence startup Heimdex has been selected for the general track of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ TIPS program, the company announced on the 7th. The selection was made through a recommendation from Samsung Fire & Marine, which serves as a TIPS operator. The startup, founded in 2025, develops artificial intelligence that searches and analyzes video content without requiring files to be uploaded to external servers.

Advancing Beyond Scene Detection

Current video AI can locate a scene featuring a person holding a red cup, but it cannot explain who handed the cup to whom or why. Heimdex is addressing this limitation by developing technology that records relationships among people, objects, and actions across multiple videos. Under the TIPS project, the company will build a system that answers such questions with supporting evidence scenes.

On-Premise Video Search Without Uploads

Heimdex’s enterprise solution analyzes video files while they remain in their original storage locations, including local drives, NAS devices, and external hard disks. Users can enter a desired scene as a sentence and immediately see the matching file and timeline position. The platform also provides section summaries, automatic short-form creation, and automatic blurring of faces and personal information in a single workflow.

B2B Traction Across Content Industries

Heimdex has already supplied natural language video search, summarization, and automatic short-form generation technology to broadcasters, production companies, MCNs, entertainment companies, and live commerce operators. This B2B traction indicates that the startup’s core capabilities are being tested in demanding content workflows. The TIPS project will accelerate the next stage of its technology development.

Creator-Focused Service Heimlog

For individual creators, Heimdex operates a service called Heimlog that turns travel footage into polished vlogs. The system selects highlight scenes, generates subtitles, inserts background music, and automatically blurs the faces of bystanders. Completed videos can be published directly to YouTube from the platform, reducing manual editing time and helping creators focus on storytelling.

Expanding Into AI Training Data

Beyond search and editing tools, Heimdex plans to transform organized video content into AI training datasets after obtaining rights holders’ consent. The relationship-recording technology developed through the TIPS project will serve as the foundation for structuring people, objects, and actions within video data. This expansion positions the startup to supply a growing market for high-quality, consent-based video data.

Recent Momentum and Recognition

Founded in 2025, Heimdex has secured initial investment from Antler Korea and Pre-Seed investment from Samsung Fire & Marine. The startup has also been selected for several programs this year, including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ startup growth technology development R&D project, Gwangju Metropolitan City’s investment-linked support initiative, and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation Venture Camp 18th cohort. It was additionally chosen for N-Up 2026, a joint program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and NVIDIA.

Leadership Perspective

Kang Hee-jo, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Heimdex, said that video AI has so far been limited to finding individual scenes. He stated that the company will build a system in which relationships between scenes are recorded, making search and analysis more accurate as video volumes grow. This approach aims to shift video AI from simple detection toward deeper contextual understanding.

Heimdex’s TIPS selection adds to a period of rapid early momentum for the startup. The company’s combination of on-premise video analysis, creator tools, and AI data ambitions addresses both immediate productivity needs and longer-term data infrastructure opportunities. As it executes the TIPS project, Heimdex is working to establish a new standard for how video content is searched, structured, and reused.
