European technology company Verda has announced a $189 million funding round, approximately €163 million, to scale its full-stack AI cloud platform. The Helsinki-based company said the new financing brings its total funding to more than $450 million and values it at more than $1 billion. With this milestone, Verda becomes Europe's latest unicorn and strengthens its position in the rapidly expanding market for AI infrastructure.
Funding details and investor support
The financing consists of an oversubscribed Series B led by Emergence Capital, plus additional investment from a broad syndicate of institutional and angel backers. Participants include MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), byFounders and Tesi, the Finnish Industry Investment Ltd. Angel investors Ola Tørudbakken of Meta and Mark Saroufim of Core Auto and GPUMODE also joined the financing, reflecting strong demand from investors.
Expansion and product development
Verda plans to use the new capital to accelerate product development across all layers of its AI cloud, from compute capacity to platform services for frontier AI teams in the agentic era. The company will invest in areas such as inference and expects to multiply its compute capacity over the next year. These investments are designed to support continued growth across Europe, the United States and Asia.
Commercial momentum and market demand
The funding announcement follows strong commercial momentum for Verda, which reached a $165 million annualised revenue run rate in July. The company has recently opened offices in London and San Francisco and plans further expansion across key international markets. Emergence Capital General Partner Joe Floyd noted that demand for AI compute is insatiable and that Verda has the technology, ambition and momentum to become a defining AI infrastructure company.
Building a European AI infrastructure leader
Founded in Helsinki in 2020, Verda operates a full-stack AI cloud that manages infrastructure from physical data centres and hardware through to its cloud platform and AI research. The company employs around 250 people from more than 40 nationalities and operates across Europe, the United States and Asia. Founder and CEO Ruben Bryon said AI is becoming critical infrastructure across industries, and Europe now has a pivotal window to build technology leadership while reducing the carbon footprint of compute worldwide.
Strategic significance for Europe
The round highlights growing investor confidence in European AI infrastructure at a time when demand for specialised compute continues to outpace supply. Verda's billion-dollar valuation positions it among a small group of European technology companies with global ambitions in the AI sector. The company said its north star is to build the first true tech company in Europe, with AI infrastructure as the starting foundation.
With this latest funding, Verda has secured the capital and valuation milestone needed to compete at the frontier of AI cloud infrastructure. The company is using the investment to expand compute capacity, enhance platform services and strengthen its presence across Europe, North America and Asia. Its rapid growth reinforces Europe's increasing relevance in the global AI infrastructure market.
