Vapi, a voice AI startup dedicated to humanizing business communications, has successfully closed a $50 million Series B funding round. The investment, led by Peak XV with participation from M12 and Kleiner Perkins, elevates the company's total capital to $72 million. This milestone follows a period of explosive growth, marked by a tenfold increase in enterprise revenue and over one billion customer calls handled by its platform.

Addressing a Broken System

Vapi was founded to solve the pervasive frustration of automated customer service, a system that costs consumers trillions of minutes annually. Founder Jordan Dearsley was inspired by converging AI trends, realizing it was possible to build a voice agent that felt truly human. The company directly addresses the growing gap between advanced consumer AI assistants and the outdated, impersonal IVR systems still used by most large enterprises.

A Platform for Human-Like Interaction

The company provides a developer-first platform that simplifies the creation, deployment, and management of sophisticated voice agents through an API-first system. Vapi's core technology is engineered for low latency and high configurability, enabling scalable and natural-sounding conversational experiences. This infrastructure empowers businesses to move beyond rigid scripts and build dynamic agents that can genuinely resolve complex customer issues effectively.

Driving Enterprise Growth and Customer Satisfaction

Vapi's technology has already demonstrated significant impact for major clients, including Amazon Ring, Kavak, and Instawork. Amazon Ring transitioned its entire inbound support to Vapi in just two weeks, resulting in improved customer satisfaction scores. Meanwhile, the marketplace Kavak doubled revenue in its Mexico market by transforming its call center into a revenue generator with Vapi's tools.

Strategic Investment and Market Positioning

The funding round signals strong market confidence, with lead investor Peak XV joined by M12, Kleiner Perkins, and Bessemer Venture Partners. While the voice AI market is competitive, Vapi distinguishes itself with its robust, self-serve infrastructure designed for developers and large-scale enterprise deployment. Arnav Sahu of Peak XV noted that Vapi's bottom-up approach positions it to become the defining platform for voice AI workflows.

Future Focus on Governance and Expansion

With the new capital, Vapi plans to enhance its enterprise-grade features by investing in distribution, delivery, and core infrastructure. A primary focus will be on governance, reliability, and creating a self-improvement loop to make agents progressively smarter with each interaction. These developments are crucial for winning trust in regulated industries like finance and healthcare, ensuring both high performance and strict compliance.

This $50 million investment positions Vapi to accelerate its mission of fundamentally transforming the vast customer service industry. By enabling businesses to convert their largest cost centers into powerful revenue drivers, the company is redefining automated communication. Having already processed over a billion calls, Vapi is poised to lead the charge in making every business interaction feel more personal and human.
