UpSmith, an artificial intelligence platform built for skilled trades businesses, has secured US$10 million in a Series A funding round. The Dallas-based company plans to use the capital to expand engineering resources and widen distribution across home services. The announcement positions UpSmith to bring AI-driven revenue recovery tools to a broader network of essential service contractors.
Funding and Investor Backing
The Series A round was led by SemperVirens and included Hannah Grey Ventures, Asymmetric Capital Partners, CIV, Synetro Group, and WaterStone Impact Fund, which is anchored by Tim Tebow. Other backers include Colin M. Evans at Sandwith Ventures, Deason Capital Services, and OpenGov co-founder Zachary Bookman. Allison Baum Gates of SemperVirens and Rob Biederman of Asymmetric Capital Partners will join UpSmith's board of directors.
Expanding the Technology Platform
The fresh capital will support hiring for UpSmith's engineering team and broader distribution across the home services industry, which remains the company's initial market focus. UpSmith is also introducing an AI voice agent designed for inbound customer calls and a unified customer timeline that consolidates interactions and job activities. These additions are intended to expand the number of touchpoints where the platform can create operational value.
Turning Untapped Demand into Booked Work
Many home services businesses accumulate thousands of open estimates, missed calls, overdue maintenance needs, expiring memberships, and inactive customers. Operators often lack the staff and time required to follow up on each opportunity. UpSmith's AI agents identify and act on those gaps, converting customer demand into booked jobs and measurable revenue for contractors.
Customer Results Across the Country
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, UpSmith serves more than 200 home services operators across the United States and is a certified ServiceTitan ecosystem partner. At HomeTown Services, the platform has supported more than 5,000 completed jobs by recovering unsold estimates across five states. At Five Star Home Services, cancellations fell 34%, and Medley AC generated US$147,000 in new revenue in three months while reducing cancellations by 25%.
Leadership Perspectives
Wyatt Smith, founder and chief executive officer of UpSmith, said the company believes AI should power the people who power America. He described skilled trades as the backbone of the country and said the funding will put more powerful tools in the hands of contractors. Ray Pickens, chief operating officer at HomeTown Services, explained that the company's database was always an asset but could not be worked fast enough on its own.
Investor Confidence and Market Outlook
Allison Baum Gates, general partner at SemperVirens and UpSmith board member, said technology built for skilled trades has historically lagged behind the critical role these businesses play. Rob Biederman, managing partner at Asymmetric Capital Partners, noted that the firm has backed UpSmith since its first institutional financing in 2022 because the team understands contractor operations. Both investors emphasized that contractors can see the impact in jobs booked, cancellations prevented, and revenue recovered.
UpSmith is expanding the range of customer interactions where its AI agents can drive outcomes, adding voice capabilities and unified customer history to its existing results. The company has already helped operators across the country book thousands of jobs, recover millions in revenue, and reduce cancellations while creating additional capacity for existing teams. With new capital and strategic board support, UpSmith is positioned to deepen its impact across the skilled trades and home services economy.
