UAE-based fintech XSquare has successfully closed an undisclosed pre-seed funding round to enhance its B2B payment solutions. The investment was led by Raed Ventures, with significant participation from AngelSpark, 500 Global, and the Dubai government-backed Oraseya Capital. Founded in 2023, the company aims to streamline complex payment processes for businesses across the Middle East.

Orchestrating B2B Payments

XSquare is pioneering what it calls the region's first payment orchestration layer built exclusively for B2B transactions. Its platform unifies various payment rails, allowing businesses to manage collections, payments, and reconciliation through a single integration. This eliminates the need for companies to stitch together disparate systems, simplifying their financial operations significantly.

A key component of its strategy is a partnership with Mastercard to deploy a specialized B2B payments product. This collaboration enables card-funded supplier and vendor payments that settle directly into bank accounts, a novel approach for the region. The program is being rolled out with prominent government and large corporate clients to capture new commercial spending.

Strategic Investment and Vision

Tanvir Shah, Co-founder and CEO of XSquare, stated that regional B2B payments have long been underserved by consumer-focused tools. He emphasized that the new capital is a strong endorsement of the company's vision to provide comprehensive payment infrastructure. The backing from prominent investors validates the early traction XSquare has gained with banks and large enterprises.

Saed Nashef, Founding Partner at Raed Ventures, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the vast, untapped B2B payments opportunity across the GCC. He noted that XSquare's team possesses the unique blend of banking expertise and technical skill required to succeed. The company's early progress with key clients and the Mastercard program provided the conviction for Raed Ventures to lead the round.

Fueling Regional Expansion

With a solid base in the UAE, XSquare has already initiated its international growth by launching operations in Qatar. The company has established a presence at the Qatar Financial Centre, where it is forging partnerships with local banks and regulated payment providers. This move marks its first cross-border expansion and sets the stage for a broader GCC footprint.

The newly acquired funds are earmarked for several key growth initiatives to accelerate this regional expansion. XSquare plans to expand its network of payment rail and banking partners while simultaneously growing its engineering and commercial teams. A primary objective is to launch operations in Saudi Arabia, further solidifying its presence in the region's largest market.

This pre-seed funding round positions XSquare to significantly impact the B2B payments landscape across the Middle East. With strategic investor support and a clear roadmap for technological development and geographic expansion, the company is well-equipped for its next phase. XSquare's focus on creating a unified payment ecosystem addresses a critical need for businesses in a rapidly digitizing economy.
