Type One Energy has completed a US$200 million Series B financing round that is intended to accelerate the commercial deployment of fusion energy. The round was co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Clutterbuck Capital, with new participation from Lowercarbon Capital, Siemens Energy Ventures, and SiteGround Capital. The funding will support the company's FusionDirect technology program and Project Infinity at the Tennessee Valley Authority's Bull Run site in east Tennessee.

Series B Financing and Strategic Investors

The Series B round attracted a combination of established climate investors and industrial players, reflecting rising conviction that fusion technology is ready for commercial scale. Alongside co-leads Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Clutterbuck Capital, new investors included Lowercarbon Capital, Siemens Energy Ventures, and SiteGround Capital. The presence of strategic industrial investors demonstrates confidence in Type One Energy's partner-based approach to deployment.

The new capital will advance the company's FusionDirect technology development activities and the continued execution of Project Infinity. Type One Energy is working toward what it describes as the world's first commercial fusion plant at the Bull Run site operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The financing is also designed to support partnerships across manufacturing, engineering, and operational capabilities required for rapid global deployment.

Type One Energy's strategy is intended to be highly capital-efficient because it uses the expertise, resources, and existing production infrastructure of established energy industry leaders. The company avoids recreating those capabilities internally, which helps reduce technology development costs, risks, and timelines. This model also supports the concurrent development and deployment of multiple fusion power plant projects.

Project Infinity and Licensing Milestones

Project Infinity includes the Infinity One engineering prototype and the Infinity Two commercial fusion plant, which is planned to generate 400 MWe at Bull Run. The company recently received its initial operating license from the State of Tennessee for the project. This first ever fusion power plant licensing process was established consistent with national regulatory standards and sets an international benchmark for safety by design.

Type One Energy is also progressing a second commercial fusion deployment through the UK Infinity Fusion Consortium. The consortium brings together Tokamak Energy, AECOM, Sheffield Forgemasters, and Barclays. These international milestones reinforce the company's focus on building industrial partnerships that extend beyond a single project and support its long-term deployment strategy.

Leadership and Investor Perspective

Chief Executive Officer Christofer Mowry said the breadth and quality of investors in the round demonstrates growing support for the company's strategy to industrialize fusion energy. He added that the Series B financing enables the team to remain focused on stellarator technology and Project Infinity design activities. The company believes the principal challenges for stellarator fusion are now engineering and industrial execution rather than questions of plasma physics.

Carmichael Roberts of Breakthrough Energy Ventures said fusion is approaching a point where deployment, not discovery, defines the challenge. He noted that Type One Energy combines business and technical leadership, optimized stellarator technology, and industrial relationships needed to move from breakthrough science to commercial power plants. Enrique Gonzalez Zanetich of Siemens Energy Ventures added that the investment strengthens the firm's position in fusion and reflects confidence in the company's execution-focused approach.

The Series B round marks a significant step in Type One Energy's effort to industrialize fusion power generation through strategic partnerships. With licensing momentum in Tennessee and a growing international consortium, the company is positioning itself to deliver commercial fusion plants at scale. The participation of both financial and industrial investors suggests that fusion is now viewed as ready for practical, large-scale deployment.
