Trading Platform Zanskar Secures Rs 25 Crore from BlackSoil

Zanskar Technology, a Bengaluru-based quantitative trading and execution infrastructure company, has raised Rs 25 crore from BlackSoil Capital to expand Nubra, its platform serving both institutional and retail brokerage clients. The company, which is also backed by Peak XV Partners, operates in a segment where technology performance, execution quality, and infrastructure reliability are central to product differentiation. Founded in 2022 by Mayank Sachan and Vandana Jain, Zanskar is positioning the fresh capital as a way to widen its market footprint while strengthening the systems behind its trading business.


Funding and Expansion Plans

According to published reports, the new funding will be used to grow Zanskar’s brokerage businesses and deepen its investment in technology capabilities that support high-performance trading operations. That signals a strategy focused not only on bringing in more clients, but also on improving the infrastructure needed to serve them efficiently across different market segments. For a company building around execution and trading workflows rather than a purely consumer-facing investing product, that balance between commercial expansion and system development is a key part of the next growth phase.

Nubra’s Market Positioning

Through Nubra, Zanskar provides execution and brokerage services to a broad range of institutional participants, including asset management companies, PMS and AIF funds, venture capital and private equity firms, family offices, and proprietary trading desks. At the same time, the platform also caters to individual investors, giving the company a two-sided presence across professional trading workflows and the wider retail market. Zanskar has also said it is building infrastructure for market-making in international markets, pointing to ambitions that extend beyond a standard domestic brokerage model.

Technology Backbone

A major part of Nubra’s pitch is its in-house technology stack, which includes proprietary order management and risk management systems, exchange co-located infrastructure, and low-latency execution algorithms. The company says this architecture enables what it describes as institutional-grade execution, and it is using that positioning to appeal not only to large financial clients but also to active individual investors seeking more sophisticated trading capabilities. The emphasis on proprietary infrastructure helps explain why Zanskar is directing fresh capital toward technology as aggressively as it is toward business expansion.

Early Traction and Operating Milestones

Zanskar says Nubra has shown early traction within a short period of time, with the platform onboarding multiple institutional clients within six months of launch. It also says Nubra is already acting as an authorised market maker for several ETF products, while its retail offering has crossed 25,000 demat accounts. Although the company has not publicly disclosed revenue, profitability, or trading-volume metrics, those milestones offer an early indication of how it is attempting to build scale across both institutional and retail channels.

Investor Context

The deal also brings in BlackSoil Capital, an alternative credit investor that, according to reported coverage, has backed several unicorns and publicly listed companies since its inception in 2016. For Zanskar, the partnership adds both capital and a degree of external validation at a time when infrastructure-led financial services businesses are increasingly being judged on operational depth as much as distribution. Sachan has described the funding as a way to accelerate Nubra’s broader goal of bringing institutional-grade execution and technology to a wider group of market participants while strengthening its presence in the institutional segment.


The latest raise gives Zanskar more room to build Nubra into a broader trading infrastructure platform spanning brokerage, execution, and market-making support. Its next stage will depend on whether it can translate early customer acquisition and infrastructure claims into durable scale, while maintaining the technical performance that sits at the heart of its proposition. If the company can do that, this funding round may prove to be a meaningful step in establishing Nubra as a more prominent player in India’s evolving market-tech ecosystem.
