Chilean student labor platform Tasky has closed a strategic investment round with ECR Group, reaching a valuation of US$5 million. The company, founded by brothers Alan and Eitan Guiloff in 2019, connects university students with flexible, hourly paid work and has now secured a partner with a broad commercial network. Although the total investment amount was not disclosed, the founders said the alliance will accelerate regional expansion and open new business verticals.
Strategic Investment With ECR Group
CEO Alan Guiloff confirmed that the round was closed with ECR Group as a strategic partner rather than a traditional venture capital fund. ECR Group operates a network of 2,500 points of sale, which Tasky plans to use to strengthen its national presence and reach new corporate clients. The startup wants to double its base of registered university students and achieve break even before the end of the year.
From WhatsApp Groups to a National Platform
Tasky started in 2019 when the founders noticed that their university classmates struggled to combine study with paid work. They initially organized job opportunities through two WhatsApp groups and later built a digital platform that now has more than 30,000 registered university students. The company adds around 120 new student users every day and has intermediated 20,000 tasks since its launch.
Operating Model and Early Traction
Tasky sells hours of university student labor to companies and charges a commission for each task it intermediates. More than 80 firms across retail, consumer goods, events, and last mile currently use the platform. According to the company, these clients have been able to reduce operating costs by up to 30% while giving students access to flexible paid work.
New Verticals and University Alliances
Beyond its original marketplace for flexible tasks, Tasky is adding two verticals: professional internships and a first job service for recent graduates. The company says these additions shift the product from a single task platform to a support system for the entire university journey. It is also closing agreements with universities so that institutions can manage labor opportunities directly for their own students.
Verified Profiles and Social Impact
Each university student on Tasky builds a profile with evaluations and a verifiable work history that can serve as a reference when applying for formal jobs. The platform has generated more than 500 million Chilean pesos in student earnings, helping to reduce the financial pressure that can lead to dropout. The founding team maintains that this social mission remains central to the company's growth strategy.
Recognition and Industry Attention
In 2024 Tasky was selected to represent Chile at the Red Bull Basement event in Japan, highlighting its innovation among student-focused startups. This recognition has reinforced the company's visibility as a social impact business serving university communities. The founders see the ECR Group partnership as a natural step after this international exposure.
Tasky's round with ECR Group illustrates how a startup can use strategic corporate capital to move beyond a marketplace and build broader employment services for students. With a verified profile system, university partnerships, and new career verticals, the company now covers more of the student journey from entry to first formal employment. At a US$5 million valuation and with a clear path toward break-even, Tasky is focused on converting early traction into national scale.
