Cairo-based startup Suplyd has successfully raised $2 million in a pre-Series A funding round aimed at scaling its digital procurement platform for Egypt’s restaurant sector. The company, which launched in 2022, is targeting deeper integration within the $10 billion HORECA (hotels, restaurants, and catering) supply chain by moving beyond distribution and toward building full-stack infrastructure. This round was led by 4DX Ventures, Camel Ventures, and PlusVC, with participation from Seedstars and existing backers.

Solving Pain Points for a Fragmented Industry

Suplyd emerged to tackle persistent inefficiencies in the restaurant supply ecosystem, including delayed deliveries, unreliable suppliers, and a lack of transparency. Its platform enables restaurants to connect directly with suppliers, streamlining procurement and enhancing operational control. By offering a centralized digital solution, Suplyd is helping restaurants replace outdated manual processes with real-time tools that boost efficiency and consistency.

Rapid Growth and Expanding Reach

Since its $1.6 million pre-seed round, Suplyd has experienced remarkable growth, expanding nearly 20 times and now serving over 5,000 restaurants across Egypt. This rapid expansion is a testament to both market demand and the platform’s operational resilience. The company’s influence continues to grow as more establishments rely on its technology to navigate complex supply needs with ease.

Leadership Committed to Long-Term Impact

Gohar Said, Founder and CEO of Suplyd, expressed pride in the startup’s role within the country’s F&B transformation. “Over the past four years, we’ve built Suplyd into a critical part of Egypt’s restaurant ecosystem,” he said. “What started as a bold idea is now powering thousands of restaurants every day—we didn’t just witness the industry’s digital transformation, we helped lead it.”

Next Steps: New Services and Geographic Expansion

The new capital will be channeled toward expanding Suplyd’s footprint across Egypt and launching additional verticals to support restaurant operations. The team is already developing backend tools designed to further improve restaurant workflows, enhance inventory control, and optimize logistics. These innovations aim to simplify how kitchens operate and increase their resilience in a volatile supply environment.

A Comprehensive, Data-Driven Platform

Suplyd’s digital dashboard gives restaurant operators access to a wide range of products, from fresh ingredients to equipment, all in one place. The platform provides real-time analytics, inventory management, and delivery tracking—essential features for reducing waste and improving cost control. By centralizing these capabilities, Suplyd allows restaurant managers to make faster, data-informed decisions that directly impact their bottom line.

Investor Confidence in a Proven Model

Investors backing the round expressed strong belief in Suplyd’s potential to revolutionize a traditionally underserved segment. Peter Orth, Partner at 4DX Ventures, praised the company’s ability to serve the long tail of restaurants that often lack digital procurement tools. “Their early traction, strong supplier relationships, and diversified revenue streams reinforced our conviction,” Orth noted.

Building the Backbone of Restaurant Operations

Hasan Haider, Founder and Managing Partner at Plus VC, emphasized Suplyd’s growing strategic importance in Egypt’s food and beverage landscape. “Suplyd has become a key enabler in the digital transformation of Egypt’s F&B sector,” Haider stated. “Their strong traction over the past four years reflects the team’s deep market insight and operational excellence.”

Suplyd’s recent funding and rapid scale-up signal a broader shift in how restaurant procurement is handled in emerging markets. By digitizing not just transactions but the underlying supply chain infrastructure, the company is positioning itself as a foundational tech layer for the restaurant industry. With continued innovation and expanding reach, Suplyd is poised to play a pivotal role in modernizing how kitchens across Egypt and beyond operate.
